I just finished another song for my album Polychromatic Life.

This one is a song about Rainbow Dash's short lived time at the Cloudsdale Weather Factory. A combination of dull, meaningless jobs and horrifying secrets that only Weather Factory employees know about cause her to leave.

I am digging the indie rock sound! I'm assuming you recorded live sounds? Cause it sounds very professionally done. What's bothering me, though, is some of the harmonies during the verses sound a mite odd, and some of the lyrics come off a strange kind of straightforward. Also, it's probably just me, but I was hoping for more of a buildup/release kind of deal between the verses and chorus. Otherwise this is good! I especially like the instrumental work. Something about the song, it's so catchy, but at the same time, it isn't shallow. Like, it isn't JUST a catchy tune, if you know what I'm saying. Makes me feel... Grungy. (I don't listen to much grungy, though, so I'm not entirely sure if that's an accurate genremotion.)

You are correct in saying that I record live. It's more of my forte than synth work. The only thing that isn't "live" is the drum track, which was constructed in MIDI. However I did play along live with the keyboard, no loops or sequencers here

I get what you're saying with the straightforward-ness of it. Most of the idea of this album is that it's being told from the perspective of Rainbow Dash herself. And her personality seems to be very blunt and to the point, so it seemed fitting.

As far as the vocals go, I plan on re-recording and fully mastering a lot of things before I release all of these songs in the album form. Most of these are references for myself, and a way to just get my music "out there" for now.

Man, this is pretty cool. I liked the solos. Also you guys sound really warbly, but that's cool too. Kinda gives it that high school garage band motif.

It's funny that you said "You guys." The truth here is that there is no "You guys" This is all me. Sining, guitar, bass, and midi drums. It is recorded "live" but it's all overdubs.

I record a scratch of playing the guitar with vocals. From there I record everything separately in layers and the mixed and edited properly to make it sound like a full band playing it.

Well, that's not live. Live would be if you had the backing track going and you went through the whole thing with someone else. I mean, I did the same thing with my latest demo, but I wouldn't

While it's not "live" by strict definition, I suppose I am miss using words. I guess I should use "acoustic" more than "live." The point I am trying to get across is that these are all real instruments for the most part because creating synths and sequencing is something I am just terrible at. I am doing my best to make the illusion that it is live, which seems like it worked until I revealed that it was all overdubs.
