I'm actually doing a collab over the summer with MrGeorgeFTW (youtube dude, really awesome) and probably PrinceWhateverer as well. If you want to get in on this, let me know. We're trying to do a full album collaboration over the summer. Thing is, that this is going to be very heavy and very progressive. It's likely to have alot of death metal, deathcore, djent, progressive metal, and even grindcore on it. If you aren't into the really heavy stuff, then this probably isn't for you. I'll give this thing it's own post when this project gets off the ground. Also, I will be using drop B on a six string for some of the tracks (I will use some other 6 string tunings and my 8 string as well), so that way, I can get more guitarists (because not everyone has a 7 or 8 string guitar). I was hoping to get one or two more guitarists (you and PrinceWhaterverer) so that the riffs and solos don't get stale (I'm not the most experienced songwriter). In fact, I'm also looking for an electro/dubstep producer. I won't need a drummer because MrGeorgeFTW can do that; or a bassist because PrinceWhateverer can do that. Considering how many people I'm planning on having working on this, it may turn out like a ponified version of Slipknot (get it, they have 9 members, which is way too many for a metal band).
This project is still at a stage of infancy, and won't truly begin until summer (around mid June). Most of us have some type of exams for school. I won't be on vacation until June 10, but I will try to plan some stuff beforehand.
Just a reminder, this album (which WILL be about mlp; how could I ignore all my fellow bronies?) is going to be brutal, but also varied and extermely progressive. It will have some electronic/dubstep interludes, clean guitar, instrumentals, and calm parts, but will be the most metal thing having to do with ponies. It will have melodic singing, maybe some glitch vocals if I can find someone good with that, screams, growls, and even pig squeals. There will be no shortage of solos, and I'm even trying to make a 20 minute long (or even longer) track for the album. There will also be plenty of djent grooves (which have odd time signature). I'll try to keep the lyrics mostly free of cussing, but the lyrics on some of the songs will be violent or rediculous(especially if MrGeorgeFTW wants to do a song about the fanfic Cupcakes). That could mean some lyrics will come from a medical dictionary or internet memes. There will definitely be lyrics of quotes from the show to keep it pony. I'm not entirely sure you would be up for this because of how strange it is.
In terms of who gets the credit: everyone who pitches in gets equal credit. That's just how I roll. I hope this seems like a cool idea to you. It should give you plenty to work on over the summer too (in terms of collabs). I'll wait until midway through production to worry about naming the project.
If you have any ideas that you want in there (this album will still be metal regardless), pm me. I will set up a few google docs later for different stages of production and such.
I'll repost this in its own thread later when I have more info about how to coordinate this and how many brony musicians I need.
