<Pony><Remix> Automatic Jack - Scootaloo!! (Sgt-Whip Remix)

It's been a while since I've posted any music on MLR, or posted on MLR for that matter. College man, it gets you. Anyway, glad to be back and able to comment again. Here's the latest track from me. A remix of Automatic Jack's Scootaloo!!:

I welcome critique as always. Also, if you decide you like it, it is available for free download, as is the original.

Thanks for checking it out too.

I can't say I enjoyed the track but it was well produced and flows together really well. The synthesis and glitched up vocals are all crafted briliantly and just sound, to me at least, beautiful. I sometimes forget the drums are playing as they don't have a huge driving presense in the track but I don't think thats a hindrance just wanted to point it out. I am not sure about the ending phrase at 3:08, it sounds cool though.

Thank you everyone for the honesty in your comments. I agree that the drums do not have much driving presence in the song, and it is something which I have difficulty with often when assembling a track. I am working on providing them with better presence in future songs.

The 3:08 end was meant more as a joke in the experimentation and progression of the song rather than anything else. I am very glad to hear you enjoyed the synthesis of sounds and vocals.

To Kyoga, I understand and fully respect your opinion. Thank you for giving me your honesty. It is always very helpful to hear how things do and do not work in the piece so that I may make changes in the future.

However, I would like to ask you what you mean when you say there was a lack of effort in trying to make the track sound "different" from everyone else's track. What is it about the song that gives you this impression? What made it sound this way ("same as most of the others") to you?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

I think what stands out to me most about your track is the background accompaniment of the distorted guitar. It's very nice and give the track an almost digital vibe underneath the dominantly acoustic design of the piece. Though I must admit, I think I'm experiencing very similar feelings which you had to my track.

I also understand the clipping issue. I have a particularly difficult time with that myself.

I still do not particularly see your point, but I will most certainly take it into consideration in the next track I design. Do you have any thing you recommend I work on in order to start building what you consider to be a more "unique" sound? (I don't mean to ask this as if uniqueness can be bought at the store, but I mean to ask what steps as a musician can I look into to begin building towards a more personal sound?)

Ah, that's a very nice song, though for me it is the melody that makes it so superb as opposed to any original sound design.

Granted though, at around 2:00, that effect you're describing is very prominent and excitable. Much like wind blowing through my mind. Still, it is certainly the pattern of notes which helps carry it so well.

I respect your opinion and thank you for taking your time to explain it to me.
