Well, I'm really new to this songwriting game. Even more so, ponies. I'd love to actually get some honest feedback from you guys, so here's a couple <original> songs I've been messing with:

Trixie's Song:

Applebloom's Song:

What do y'all think?

PS: Sorry if I'm not using this forum right. Not really used to this kind of thing.

OH MY GOD. I loved Trixie's Song so much. Seriously, that's one of my most played songs on iTunes. How was I not subscribed to you?

Yeah? You've heard it? and liked it?? Thanks!!!

right well.
So, I'm still looking for areas to improve. In all of my songs there is something out of place, but I can't tell what exactly. Everyone keeps saying its good, but be real...

Help?

I love the style you play but know next to nothing about the guitar. I do think it would sound cool if layered your voice but other than that... maybe have more dynamics? I cant find any problems with them that's for sure!

oh and I subed. :D

Oh. My. God. You. Are. Amazing.

Like, if you want feedback, I guess just get used to doing a bit of mastering your vocals, like bringing them up in the mix and whatever, but even without that I'm still reeling from your stuff. Well bucking done, sir.

Exactly! record your voice multiple times and stack them how ever works (editing eq etc). It is hard to make a song with one instrument and one take which might be why it seems to be lacking to you, but I think every artist second guesses what they make.
Just experiment as much as you can, obviously people like what you do, so just have fun with it.
On a side note. What guitar do you have?

Thanks for all the feedback!! I really appreciate it!

@colortwelve Saw your comment. I am always down for a collab! Your stuff is awesome, and I've already been having fun jamming along to Fluttersomething!

@kingsleyrulz I have my dad's old Takamine from when he was a kid. That's my primary guitar. I also have a garbage Bentley acoustic I sometimes use for lower pitch rhythm parts, and a Gretsch Electromatic Pro solid body electric guitar that I never use cause my apartment isn't grounded well. I get terrible buzzing if I record using my mixer board.

@DJ PON-3 Thank you!! And threw it up.

Wow. Just... Wow. Heavens, man, your guitar playing is fantastic. And your lyrics.... I'll definitely be looking forward to the next song.

Do you have any non-pony songs? I'd love to hear what else you've done.

Yeah, I had put out an EP before this. The best ones on there are on my youtube page, but since I have only been writing and singing for a year, you can definitely see where I've improved. They suck, imo.

Great stuff. There's really nothing much to criticise but since you want criticism so badly...

about Trixie's Song:
- what's that beeping sound at 0:40 and 0:46? :D
- the second guitar could use some more variation perhaps
- I agree with colortwelve that the voice is a little bit too quiet especially in the later parts (but nothing too severe really)
- in my opinion the second soloish part is unnecessary and stretches the whole thing a little bit too much; at that point it starts to become a little bit repetitive

just nitpicking

(Goes to :40)

Is that? ... Crap how did i miss that. That was my watch :) Thats kinda embarrassing.

And yeah, I'm still not comfortable with my voice, so out of habit, my mixing tends to leave it a bit quiet. Im working on it.

Thanks!
