Mashups of Various Genres

Postby I AM DUMB HORSE » 30 Mar 2012 18:15

I'm currently working on a track that's been giving me a lot of trouble. The intro is a mashup of two different songs from very different genres. I managed to find an instrumental track of one, and a vocal track of the other, and I'm mixing up the lyrics. Also, this isn't JUST a mashup. That's just the intro; I plan on adding some original music too, which is what I'm occupied with at the moment. Unfortunately, the song doesn't flow nicely. The lyrics mesh somewhat decent, and I am not satisfied with the way the original music comes in after the intro. This is probably more of a case-by-case thing than "this is how you do it" type of problem, but I figured I might as well ask.

I don't think many people can help you if don't give us a WIP peek at it.
currently on a hiatus from actively making music due to school

Well, it's a joke track, and I can't really post a WIP without spoiling the joke, unfortunately. :X

I had a really shitty segue between the mashup/original portion that was just a fade-out, fade-in type of deal. I'm gonna go back and use samples from the instrumental track. I didn't think to sample my samples before. I'm gonna take another stab at it now that I have some inspiration. If I get stuck again, I'll come back and bump this with a short WIP sample. Sorry I didn't already!
