CPU Overload

Postby Two-Twelve » 28 Mar 2012 16:11

I've been working on a song lately and am very pleased with how it is turning out. I've gotten further on this song than I have any other and I am very excited to finish it. One problem though, when it gets to a certain point my CPU just maxes out and tons of audio problems start up. Glitching and clipping everywhere and it makes it impossible to work on the song because I can't tell what the hell is even going on. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I heard once that I could turn some of my tracks into audio tracks, but I'm not sure how to do that in FL Studio. Any help?

Converting your tracks to audio is the best way to reduce cpu load. I am not quite sure how to do it in FL but when I used it I would record the channel into edison and then place the audio into the arangement window where the old midi track used to sit. There may be an easier way now but thts what I used to do.

Can you freeze tracks in FL Studio? That helps a lot in GarageBand. :)

I've experienced that, here's the solutions i've figured out

1. Increase buffer rate from audio options
2. Tools->macros->smart disable for plugins
3. Close all unnecessary programs running on the background
4. Download ASIO

ASIO ASIO ASIO.
Seriously, ASIO helps so much. Even on my dads really crappy computer, when I use ASIO the audio usually doesn't lag or glitch up till I have about 5 Massives in it.

ASIO works awful on my end, I recommend against it. It's so much louder than anything else and I still can't change the volume. And it kills Skype. :( This is only on my main production computer, though- makes no sense.

Anyway, just disable a few tracks using the little green thing at the left and export it as a WAV file. Then, reimport it and have that play. Much less CPU wasted, but a bit of HDD space. Hey, it's worth it, though.
