<Pony> <Original> Stroll Through Everfree

My first full instrumental track, which came out of nowhere after installing tweakbench peach. I want to call it chiptune, but the drums aren't lo-fi, so I'm not sure if it still qualifies.

Basically, I wanted to make a song about traveling through the everfree forest, complete with the scariness, trials, eventual triumph, and your escape. My first full instrumental and second song altogether, so go easy. :D My only problem with it is that the transitions feel forced and too sudden, but I did the best I could.

Well, I personally think all of the transitions were fine except for the one at 2:06ish. I think that one could have been better mostly because of the obvoisness of the empty space. while silence can be ffective when used right, it's not that great for transitions, since it makes the entire audience aware of it. Try to make a transition without that empty space, and that one will be good like the rest.

Other than that, one thing I think this song could really benefit from is a clear melody. The chords and fast, repeating notes set a good ambiance for a song, but what really makes chiptune themes really memorable like the ones from early final fantasy or Pokemon games is not the chord progression, but the melody. It doesn't have to be fast or complicated, but If you could slap a memorable little tune on top of this, it'd be a huge step for it, and I think that's what it would most benefit from now.

Thouygh My opinion is totally unprofessional, try and go back through this and experiment some more. That's the best way to continue learning, so go nuts!

Huh. I did go into this track wanting to make something fast and complex, something that fits the theme, but the more I listen to it, the more you're right. At some point I'm going to expand this song, probably around to the 4 or 5 minute mark, and I'll make it much more melodic and memorable when I do. Keep it simple, stupid.

As for the transition, I've added some ambient forest-type noises to make it feel less empty. But that part is still definitely a WIP.

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. Constructive criticism is something I don't have access to as much as I would like.
