And I used really wacky techniques I made up for this track, like double sidechaining (sidechain bass to the kick and snare using one peak controller, then clone the kick, alter it using the compressor to sound more like a sub, make the pattern exactly like the kicks & snares, just with one beat ahead and behind, mute it, insert a peak controller and then sidechain the bass to the other peak controller as well, but make it a little less peak-y), and the kicks and snares are very unique; the kick is me banging a notebook on a table, and the snare is me snapping my fingers, but compressed a million times when bored.

my goodness! i really need to start watching more tutorials on sidechaining and do them as from what i've seen it looks really cool and will get you great results. you've inspired me to get my butt in gear on that

O.o Are you serious!? Snapping your fingers!? I really need to get a good mic, cause I need to start making my own samples. currently I've been using default wav samples that come with MadTracker as well as a few samples from "FreeSound.org". but other than that, my mics that i've had are pretty crummy.

Although, I did just recently get a new mic... I'll have to look into how to set it up for use with a computer though.

And yes, snapping my fingers for the snare. I don't have a good microphone, I'm using an USB microphone from a broken USB headset, only the microphone works, hehe. If you're gonna compress it anyway, it doesn't have to be ultra high fidelity; I can give you the snare sample if you want.
