hi guys
im -djmk-, on other websites i go by maskquerade or project_mk.
i don't really know what i'm doing here, other than the fact that I like making music and I like ponies. i figured it would be a great idea to join a community focused on both.
I've been composing for probably four years now, and i've had no formal training. however, i do play the trombone, sing baritone and i'm currently learning the bass guitar.
probably my greatest influences are red hot chili peppers, igor stravinsky, super ponybeat, queen and styx. i make all kinds of music, as should be apparent by my tastes. my DAW is fl studio, though before recently i've been using nothing but sibelius and a midi program (anvil studio).
i'm currently a sophomore in high school and i intend to pursue a career in music.

yeah.

@I AM DUMB HORSE: i like you already.

Hi everypony!

My name is Sterling, but I usually go by my OC name SilverBlaze. I'm not new to making music, but I've only recently started to make pony music. My normal genre that I work in is Chiptune, but I do dabble in other forms of Techno/Electronica and Orchestral.

Other than music, I am also an avid 3D and 2D artist, and programmer. I also love any kind of science documentaries. I am a science nerd! lol :b

Hello. My name is Shure Song. I do all sorts of music such as Jazz, Blues, Rock, and Celtic to name a few. I am only a singer, thought. I am new to music, but I want to try it. I usually sit down, have a nice cup of tea, and watch cartoons and Doctor Who. My favorite pony is Twilight Sparkle.

Hai. I type way too much so I'm just going to type in incomplete sentences and hit Submit before I'm even done typing.

I'm 18, started writing music about 3 weeks ago. Mainly planning to do electro-ish stuff. I'm also a drummer (I don't practice enough anymore though :l).

Oh, and I have pink hair. <3

I'm also extraordinarily shy (contrary to what my typing immense paragraphs would suggest o.o) so I may not post a lot. D:

Hello!
My name is Alexander. I am a 15 year old person, who is still very new to music production, but is very, very passionate about it, and want no other career. I have been making music for roughly 6 months. I love all types of electronic music, and always have since I was introduced to it in elementary school. I'm incredibly grateful that I was introduced to it, because if I hadn't been, then I wouldn't have found out what I wanted to do with my life. As previously said, I love all types of Electro Dance Music, but my favorite is currently Dubstep/Moombahcore. I really want to do Dub style songs, but again, I'm not too experienced. I hope I can give back to MLR in the future.

Thank you for viewing my post.

Postby BassRabbit » 17 Mar 2012 00:53

Hello there. I am Bass Rabbit (no relation to Angel Bunny), and my introduction to music production is quite an odd one.

I was a very bitter and pessimistic child, and when I wasn't distracting myself with video games or cartoons, I would usually have thoughts like, "Man, people sure do suck.". But, there was always one thing that made me forget about all that; music. Whether it's cliche or just sappy, I do not know, but it's true. It made me happy.

The problem was, with no connection to the internet, I had no idea where to find the music I liked or even what it was called. My sister had a CD with sixteen amazing house songs that we would always listen to when she drove me to school. I listened to it all the time (How could I not? It had Daft Punk!). But, eventually, the thrill of listening to it wore off, and with no other music to turn to, I eventually returned to the unusually-depressed-for-my-age child I once was.

But, one day in Middle School, fortune shined upon me, as my Gym teacher was so generous as to give me the two CDs that practically made me who I am today; "Pure Trance 3", and "Paul Oakenfold Presents; Another World", two CDs full of amazing trance music, or as I called it, major euphoria.

Much like the House CD, I listened to them all the time. And when I started noticing that similar music was featured in one of my favorite game series, Dance Dance Revolution, I started buying as many of those as I could (I had every single one available for the PS2 and one for the 360).

Eventually, I discovered the vast world of the internet, and of course, the vast quantities of rave music to be found in it's depths. I would spend hours listening to beat after addictive beat.

And over time, that depression disappeared. I eventually became the incurably optimistic and life-loving man I am today. That's right, as weird as it sounds, rave music changed my life for the better.

I started making music around the middle of 09', when I first discovered FL Studio (unless remixing songs in FreQuency counts). My first songs were...terrible, to say the least, and compared to my songs now, they were consistently terrible for about a year. I believe I have greatly improved in the past two and a half years, and, with enough practice and dedication, I'll only get better.

TL;DR Version:Depressed BR? Here, try some rave music. What's that? You're happy now? Well of course you are! Music does that y'know.

Wow, that is crazy awesome BassRabbit! That is an awesome story! I was always an optimist, so music didn't really have much affect on me, but that's just amazing! I'd love to hear some of the songs you've made.

Oh, and welcome to MLR! :b

Hello everyone!

I've always wanted to get into music producing but I've always lacked the support to make me stick with it. Imagine my happiness when I saw this forum. I've always loved the brony community for their positive attitude and general supportiveness.

Musically I played piano for 5 years but that was a long time ago. And I've played the alto sax for seven years and still play it to this day.

I've been a fan of electro music for about two years now with my favourite genres being Dubstep, Drumstep, and Drum and Bass, but I'm open to almost all forms of music.

I hope to have a blast meeting everyone and making music!

PS. Go Canadian Bronies! :D

Hi, I go by the Alias GhostXb, and I started producing music in 2006. I'm a 22 year old male who currently resides in Prince George, Canada. I don't make music for a particular genre, just whatever inspires me at the time, and I am currently working on a submission for the Seeds of Kindness album.

I've been snooping around these forums for a while, but this is my first post. Hope to share many musics with you all in the near future!

Postby Emkay » 18 Mar 2012 14:02

Oh hey, I didn't see this topic.

Howdy!
I'm Emkay and I'm 19, I live in the Greater Boston area, and I'm a transgirl (I normally wouldn't say that but I've been trying to be more open since I joined the brony community, besides, I feel terribly guilty if I lead people on as anything but trans). I'm a community college student (wow, such a big-shot) and my favorite genre is... uh... I honestly don't know what the genre is but the band that defines it is Dead Can Dance.

ANYWAYS
I've never really considered myself as a musically oriented person, especially before ponies. In fact, until I was about 13, I really never listened to that much music. I considered myself completely musically illiterate and never attempted anything close to music production.
Then in early August, I got into MLP. A few weeks after that, I really started listening to the fanmade music listening to artists like JackleApp and Eurobeat and then just spreading onwards from there. I still didn't consider myself musically inclined.
However, it wasn't until December that I actually started to wonder if my own preconceptions about my abilities were true. How could I possibly know if I'm not good at something if I haven't tried it? Besides, I have the mentality that anyone can be good at something given enough patience, practice, and passion. And also the fanmade music has made me a happier person since I started listening to it and I wanted people to feel the same way over my own music.
So I proceeded to download FL Studio 10 in mid December and began making my first song around New Years. Two months later, with the help of several long tutorials, I made my first song!
Even then, it took me a while to join MLR because I wasn't sure if I would really fit in here seeing as how I considered myself more of an aspiring music hobbyist rather than a musician.
But I joined anyways. =]

Been posting around a few of the different boards but haven't come here to introduce myself yet so here it is!

Names' Darek, I'll be turning 20 here in a few months and I'm from South Dakota. I never really cared about music too much up until recently. Sure I would put a playlist on just to have some background noise while I was playing a game or something but I never really listened to it. Honestly I didn't really start caring about music until I started watching MLP: FiM. After watching all the current episodes that were out at the time I decided to go and check out some of the fan created content. The artwork, the PMV's, the stories were all great but what absolutely blew my out of the water was the music. I can't put my finger on it but it feels like something about this community really pours their heart into their music and I finally started to care. Finally recently I woke up and looked at what I do everyday, which usually entailed working until I played video games and then playing video games until I slept and the pattern never changed. I started listening to some of the music that had come out of this community and finally thought to myself, "I want to do this." I don't expect to be truly good for many years to come but I still want to thank each and every one of you for inspiring me to finally do something with myself and being here for help when I need it!

Don't mean to post my life story here, so TL;DR: I want to make music because of you guys, so thanks.
