<Pony><Original> Luna's Return to Ponyville

Postby Scootalootacris » 16 Mar 2012 01:01

Hey guys, I'm new here and to remixing in general; I've been learning so much over the past couple weeks. Anyway, here's my new song, all criticism welcome, I just want to keep getting better:

Crude stew, do you fear it, Apple Bloom? Sometimes life is not a cakewalk served up on a silver spoon.

Welcome to MLR, you got the right mindset for music!

As I listen,

Intro drum pattern feels a little awkward but interesting and unique, Vocals are fitting in well. Nice bass synth, love that filter you have on it. I like those random glitch effects, I need to learn to make those after this! 1:18 new 'air' synth I will call it, I like it and its quite unique. We lose the kick in this part, I think if you sidechained the air synth to the kick, just a bit of sidechainging. 3:15 I really love the grove you had going there, its sounding real good. Ok outro is good, you back into a weird drum pattern again.

I like what you have here but it feels like something is missing in some parts of the track,I would try filling in the upper frequencies (above 1kHz) with some long cymbals crashes (mild ones) and maybe some noise sweeps all with delays and clean reverb.

its a little bare. the vocal samples are also kind of hard to hear. upper freq are a bit missing but otherwise its pretty decent and interesting. nice glitch. It would be nice to hear the track be a little more driving but then it might sound like a nu-breaks feel but that would really change it.

Thanks you guys, I'm super new and feel pretty overwhelmed about all the knowledge I seem to not possess; your responses are really helpful.
