Need help, using samples and presets too much.

Postby Mazzive » 13 Mar 2012 11:10

Well, i've finally decided that i won't use samples and presets anymore. I want to be original, and have many more opportunities. I used samples and presets in Massive. I will still use drum samples, since that almost all drums sounds same. I never used my Sylenth1 and Z3ta+, but i will begin to. And now the finally question is here, how should i get started, is there any good tutorials for these VST's and VSTi's that can show what each "button" does, since i just had loaded a preset and then used it.
But yea, i think that's all, i hope you can help me.

I use Z3ta quite a lot but have not found any good youtube tutorials on it.
I suggest reading the manual a couple times, it really helped me, and taking a preset and deconstucting it is another great way to learn a new vst. Do you have any specific questions?

Whenever you need to get a certain sound, just look up a tutorial for it on Youtube. Or, take an existing preset and then mess with it a little. Or just mess around until something cool happens. Eventually, you'll learn your way around a synth enough to make your own sounds and won't have to rely too much on presets anymore!

Presets are wonderful things, though. They often show you cool things you never thought you could do on a synth. So finding a preset, learning how they made that sound, and then tweaking it to make the sound yours isn't really frowned down upon.

1. Take presets.
2. Edit them a little, or alot.

Or

1. Look up some tutorial for the type of sound you want.
2. Shape it up differently however you want, if you want.
