Smile Smile Smile dubstep remix

Postby itroitnyah » 11 Mar 2012 19:27

I tried to make this sound creepy, but it didn't meet expectations :(

Yeah, I know I'm probably not the first one to remix this song, but I had a friend who wanted me to, so I did. Plus I partially wanted to.

constructive criticism welcomed :)

There are download links in the desc of video, if interested. If you want to support me, all my earnings are going towards getting better software (I'm currently using LMMS and Audacity, if you want to know)

Good. The only thing that sort of irks me is that the vocal samples are not really lining up with the beat. Also try to do some changes to the pitches so it can fit in with the chord progression. I usually do all of that in Audacity.

I like what you got going on in the beginning, like the first 30 seconds. Try to incorporate the beginning more into the bassy section.

Also, I feel like you shouldn't drop the drums a lot when it comes to the wobble part.

Definitely getting the creepy mood in this. Keep doing what you're doing! =]
Mingus = Echelon; too lazy to request a name change on here =P

I agree the vocals often dont match up with tempo and the mixdown itself is all over the place. I like the individual sounds themselves but you don't have them all under control, you should work on some compression and volume control.

I understand you are limited with your software and I know nothing about LMMS.

alright >.< thanks. I'll be sure to do that. I'm still pretty new to music making. I'm starting to get better at using LMMS so I'm going to be able to do all that stuff pretty soon.

Yeah, both Mingus and the4thImpulse speak words of wisdom. I agree with them on most everything related to this track.

But it's great that you're putting your work out there, and using a very uncommon DAWS. It's also very impressive that you're putting the foot forward to learn your software.
