<pony><derpy>Lament for Derpy

Postby SeventhElement » 01 Mar 2012 06:29

Well, it's Derpy Day. I made this song in response to Derpy being decanonized, and I figured it'd be only appropriate to release it on Derpy Day. This song was written with alot of intention, but became more improvisation. I hope you like it :)

That was beautiful, was this recorded with a live piano? Really well done.

Its in F minor. If you want I can send you a MIDI. Although I raped the sustain pedal so it's likely there are going to be ALOT of VERY long notes :p

That is really nice piece of piano music.
Also I can say that the moment at 1:38 gave me frosty chills and some of my childish memories suddenly appeared in front of my eyes.
This is a vintage signature. No, really!

Very nice! Very sensitive too, I love the chords and it's just... good all around. Reminds me a bit of Erik Satie, certainly one of my favourite modern composers. Do you take private piano lessons? I've been a classical pianist for around 8 years.
Awesome song.

Awesome song.

I've been playing for about 12ish years (since I was about 6). I've taken lessons on and off (If you want an amount, lets say about 8 or so years total), but I learned how to write and improvise all on my own. Thanks for listening :)

Mainly what I am working on is about 4 minutes in, I still need to figure out what to do in the first half. What I am going to do is have the vocals of the new derpy return to the old vocals in the end.
Also I feel as though it is too long atm, so I am going to try and find out how I can shorten it.

The only thing I really attribute to my lessons is playing technique and knowledge of theory (although, Im not so brilliant at reading sheet music all the time). This song was almost entirely improvised, a skill I have been teaching myself for some 6 years or something.
