Drum and Bass VST's/Sounds/Presets

Postby Digital Frequency » 17 Feb 2012 19:07

So I'm looking for some sounds/vst's/etc. that fit well into a DnB song. Anyone know any good ones?

[EDIT]: Oh before I forget, I'm looking for more of a Liquid DnB sound~

Okay guys, so... DnB, is an awesome genre. And as such, with awesome genres there aren't really any specific rules or tools you honestly need, as like; must-have-or-it-won't-work-period kind of things, I mean... I've seen people get Liquid sounds out of NI: Massive, FM8, and get awesome sounds out of z3ta/z3ta+/z3ta+ 2, and people who just load a sample into 3xosc and rock some shit; it all depends on what you like to use, and how you use it.

Now, as far as samples go, I'd recommend Vengeance House V 1 & 2; these come with some awesome "Cutted Sounds" that are just sounds sliced right out of music, and they all sound great; you could easily throw one of those into 3xosc and be bangin' for like, weeks playing with just that.

Now for DRUMS. Frankly, when I do DnB, I use this; 2 Kicks, 1 Snare, 1 Tom, 1 Hat. Now, bear in mind that I might layer a clap and a snare, or two snares; but they always trigger at the same time so it's basically just one snare. However, the 2 kicks is because one is with the DnB beat, and the other, is in a regular house pattern;

Kick-Kick-Kick-Kick
----Snare----Snare

Y'know; the plain-Jane Kick Snare Kick Snare 4x4 you see in like, hip-hop. Oonts, kats, oonts, kats. Y'know what I mean?

My drum samples library is fucking huge;

Vengeance House 1
Vengeance House 2
Vengeance Club 1
Vengeance Club 3
Aaall the FL defaults (which I use very, very, very sparingly; if at all)
Some crap from drumsamples.org
Some Rock pack (with awesome Tom's) from Google
And this production collection Deadmau5 and his manager released in like 2009

That's like... 4~ gigs of drums/misc samples, and I'm pretty sure I'm still going to get my hands on more.

I have some triangles if'n you need 'em, fellas...

SO YEAH. Stuff.
10/15/2014 - I finally return to ponies? Maybe.

Actually it was more like 10/12/2015

My current SoundCloud, pony & non-pony things found here.

I have 4 EP's under this alias!

Somepony talk to me, I are the lonelies. :c

eeeyup

And for VSTs: use the one you like the most. In liquid you can use almost any sound you want aslong as it fits the flow. As long as the VST is capable of a wide spectrum of sounds it's good for liquid.
I personally like to work with sylenth 1 and massive, but for simple sounds I still go back to FL's 3xOSC.
