Your Top Five Favorite Songs (In General)

5.America-Stephen Lynch: A funny little song in the style of Bob Dylan. Simplistic, yes, with just a singer and acoustic guitar, but the lyrics sell it.

4. Subdivisions-Rush: This song showcases all the talents of the band: Geddy Lee with his bass, synth, and vocal skills, Neil Peart with his intoxicating drums, and Alex Leifson's simple, but effective guitar riffs and a unique sounding solo.

3.Panama-Van Halen: One of my favorite Van Halen songs as a band (My all time favorite B-track off the same album was 1984, which showcases Eddie's synth skills). The opening riff gets the blood pumping while the rest of the song only builds momentum.

2.Seek and Destroy-Metallica (When Dave Mustaine was the lead singer): Classic Metallica at its finest. Again, it has an iconic opening riff that sets the tone for the rest of the song. Dave Mustaine's vocals, love them or leave them, match the rest of the song, even if he isn't much of a "good" singer like Freddie Mercury or Ronnie James Dio.

1.Battlefield-Blind Guardian: 3 words, FUS RO DAH! Overused memes aside, this song is probably one of the most epic songs I've ever heard and introduced me to Blind Guardian as a whole. The vocals steal the show here, while the rest of the instruments act as a backdrop to the choir-like voices that carry this tune. Not to mention the drums are orgasmic.

1. Homestuck - Savior of the Dreaming Dead

This is one of many remixes of the track Doctor, but this is themed after Savior of the Waking World, which played during one of the most amazing early moments of the comic and was featured in the 13-minute Cascade flash.

2. nervous_testpilot - Switch

The whole Frozen Synapse soundtrack is amazing, but I thing Switch stands out as being the most energetic and catchy song.

3. Lisa Miskovsky - Still Alive (Phrakture Remix)

This remix is completely unofficial, but I think that out of all the remixes of this song I've heard, this is the one I like the best. I tend to focus on drumlines a lot because I like songs with complexity in the percussion.

4. DJ Fortify - PEWDIEPIE

It doesn't seem like there's a lot of really upbeat, catchy dubstep out there. It's a nice change of pace.

1. A Day in the Life/Strawberry Fields Forever (tie)- The Beatles. Pretty much the greatest songs ever written in my opinion. Great music and lyrics. I especially love Ringo's drum work on these two.
2. Echoes- Pink Floyd. Long, mainly instrumental, with experimental middle section. I love the vocals and lyrics on this one. Has a cool underwater feel. 23 minutes of psychedelic prog heaven. The part when the drums kick in and the song picks up, and Gilmour and Wright sing in dream like harmony is great.
3. Ramble On- Led Zeppelin. Awesome bass guitar and drums, and Lord of The Rings references put this one on my list. The jangly guitar is also great. As usual Plant's voice is powerful and rocking.
4. The End- The Doors. Mysterious eastern sounding guitar and drums dominate this song, along with great keyboard work. The lyrics are great until the screaming creepy part. Still, Jim Morrison is a legend.
5. Xanadu- Rush. Mystical intro makes you feel as if you are scaling mountains in eastern lands unknown, along with superb playing, particularly the percussion. Geddy Lee is an amazing bass player. Neil Peart is an amazing drummer. Alex Lifeson is an amazing guitarist. Rush is an amazing band.

5) Chopin - Nocturne Op.9 No.2
- Been listening to this song since I was seven, when I got it as a Christmas gift on a CD. I used to only listen to it to help me sleep, but now I listen to it even in the middle of the day. It is truly magnificent.

4) Deadmau5 - Brazil
- Most people never understand how amazing Deadmau5's slower material is. This song is a pinnacle of such works. The song makes me want to cry, yet at the same time, to face the toughest challenge I can think of, and ultimately conquer it.

3) BT - A Million Stars
- This song is twelve minutes long, has only 16 lines of lyrics, and said lyrics are very quiet. Yet, they offer such a powerful, yet simple, message about life and how to deal with it. That, and it's damn good trance.

2) Moguai - 8001
- Honesty, I think Moguai is a very underrated house producer, and it's almost too easy to get lost in this track. The pluck is simply addictive, and the synths are more so.

1) Deadmau5 - Bleed/Strobe/I Remember (ft. Kaskade)
- Can't Decide. Put them all here. All of them are my go-to songs for pretty much any situation. Hell, I read Fallout: Equestria in it's entirety while listening to "I Remember".

My favorite songs of all time... wow. That's a hard question.

None of this is in order except for the first, which is my favorite song of all time.

This song is amazing, and is on one of my favorite albums ever. Brilliant stuff.

2. Storm - Aviators

He doesn't have this on YouTube, just google Reflections of a Dream for the iTunes preview. I praise Aviators a LOT. True fact. But my long term goal as a producer is to make Aviators-level stuff. Yes, I want to base my entire skill level on how good one man is, that is how much I love this song and album.

This song is one of my other long term goals as a producer. I want to make something as soothing as this.

So this song may or may not be here just because I've been listening to it so much lately, but I can tell that this is definitely a song to be included here. Easily LULZ's best performance, his vocals capture the emotion in the lyrics perfectly. Plus, 'and so I return to the world I've been killing'. This line right here. This line so hard.

This single track is hands-down the best hip-hop I know of. Nice, grimy bass, a cool drum pattern, an interesting structure, and epic raps from OV, Metropolis, and Durrty Goodz.

It's what made me feel like I, too, could try my hand at dubstep, because it demonstrates the emotive bass cannon. Jaw-droppingly good drop (ba-dum-tiss).

Something you don't hear too often - house music that's utterly unpredictable. The melody is nice and relaxing, the bass is just dirty enough to sound like Feed Me, and the outro's tempo shift brings it to a haunting close.

The guitar in this song gets me for some reason, not so much because of JP's absurd technical skill, but because of its excellent harmonization with the vocals during the chorus. The interlude has an epic drum solo, too.

What I consider to be the only good track from In Silico. It expertly blends two of my favorite genres (progressive rock and D&B), sports some of Rob Swire's best vocal work aside from The Island, and ends with perfectly opulent drum and bass.

Aw man killer, person above me took one of my favourites. That's alright though, who couldn't love the gorgeousness that is Relocation? Well then for favourites it's gotta be some good 'ol Drum & Bass:


A good song in it's own right but that breakdown..Oh my god that breakdown.


Oh man, words can't describe my love for this. Catchy lead synth? Check. Chill as hell reggae intro? Check. One of my favourites at the moment.



Man, going back to Pendulums first album? Daymn. One of the songs that will always hold a place in my heart, just such a great song with one of my favourite basses.

And my all time favourite, even though it's been said, relocation. Take an artist who's made some amazing Neurofunk & Electro house and have them produce a Prog House track? Come up with sheer beauty with an outro to Blood Red to boot, bloody brilliant!

A lot's been said about this song in the first couple pages of the thread, because this is easily Feed Me's best song, even when compared against his filthy electro house and dubstep and what have you. Euphoric, beautiful, and oddly enough for house music, not repetitive at all.

You probably thought this was going to be all EDM, didn't you? Nope, I still have to give some credit to the Swedes that really got me into death metal (to this day, I worship Mikael Akerfeldt for having one of the best death growls in the world and still maintaining a glorious singing voice).

This song has gotten me closer to crying than anything has in years. It's just perfect, in every way possible.

I hope this doesn't count as cheating, because it's practically an album in and of itself, but God dammit, DT are one of the best prog groups in the world, are able to turn pure technical skill into actual music, and basically opened me up to music as I know it. And if any song is able to completely represent them, it's this one. All 42 minutes of it.
