So basically they're dragged into MLP purely because their dad's a great fan? :P
Or is it the other way around?
It's a mutual thing. To be honest I have NEVER seen a single episode of MLP w/o my kids present as it's very a family thing. Although i did get into the show and making music about the show thanks to a friend (Decibelle, the one who made the Pinkamina album) who turned me onto it. I used to show my videos to them every time i had a new one but I've kind of stopped doing so (although I'll occasionally let them borrow the ipod and listen to an album).

Urggh, i hate to be that guy but maybe your expectations are a bit out of wack.... Making money doing music to the point where you can count on it as a steady stream of income is a pretty RARE thing. You're competing against people who are doing music for free, through their own bandcamps, or against others also looking to make it onto a label. Most labels unless they are ACTIVELY promoting your music are just taking half your profits or more for just a store front for you. As much as it would be nice to not have a job and just do music, don't plan on that being a reality unless you really fall in the top 10% of your peers and you're semi-popular already. Most people have a hard time finding success even doing it for free.
