Hello guys!

Everfree Radio is proud to present A State of Brony with Thorinair feat. DJ One-Trick of EFR.

A State of Brony is a techno, house, trance, and electro brony music set featuring original and inspired music from the show including original music by Thorinair.

Inspired by Armin van Buuren's, A State of Trance, we bring to you a show which emphasizes on the fantastic creations put forth by the brony community.

I decided to open a thread where I will post all episodes of A State of Brony as we (One-Trick and I) release them. I will post every episode as a new post in this thread, but for now, I will post first 4 episodes in the original post.

might wanna upload the mixtapes on mixcloud as you can stream there and they might be a step above the bit rate you'll get on YT (128bit i believe). or it might be thesame but always nice to get these on a few sites that may seek them out.

the dj's gotta work on those transitions though as on the first mix (track 1 into 2, track 3 into 4, tracks 4 to 5, track 5 to 6 had 6 come in to loud, 6 to 7 came in too early and again a little too loud) are just not well executed. the bpm's might match and not clash but if the pads are off-key from what was playing before or if they come in too early or loud it still ruins the overall mix. then you have good track selection and bad overall mixing. i'd rather have someone mix less aggressively but cleaner as the results will sound better.

nice to see some pony mixtapes devoted strictly to trance (and i know your its biggest champion) but at 4 mixes deep and having a lot of the same artists covered on each and some artists not even covered yet (Chain Algorithim) its a bit too centered on some of the heavyweights and not looking for enough unsung gems. Again this is some criticism mosty on the mixing and not the ideas behind it which is sound. i'll try to listen to mix #4 and see if the kinks were worked out on the follow-ups or not but #1 wasn't as impressive as it could be.

Actually Pon3, youtube uses 192kb/s for HD videos, that's why we all tell people to listen in HD ^^ 360/480p is 128kb/s.

I think the mixing is pretty well on the fourth one, I unfortunately never get to listen to these live so these youtube releases save me

And Chain Algorithm is really awesome and should get featured, but it's much less about DnB and Hardstyle here as it is a Trance/Techno/House mix, just like ASOT.

well agree that your focus is Trance. Check CA's "Beautiful Blue Wings" (light vocal trance), "Rainbow Dash Like Colts" (trancey enuff), "Escape From the Moon" (darker trancey). He's certainly not a one-tricky pony is what i'm saying and even if a track goes into some occasional breaks it shouldn't be a deal breaker (unless progressive house and progressive breaks are a deal breaker). certainly the best dj's who spin trance often mix it up in neighboring territory occasionally then just trance 4/4 trance all night long, otherwise you paint yourself into a corner.

Yes I agree that Chain Algorithm should have some of his tracks featured. I agree that many DJs like to differentiate with styles. Hell, one of my tracks got featured in ASOB #4 (thx ^^) and I do DnB and Orchestral..it just seems hard for me to slow down lately, but composing in a style you're comfortable with isn't a crime

Well, you guys need to know that I don't do any of the DJing. What I DO do is selecting the tracks. The issue is that most tracks that the community makes aren't DJ friendly. So far only Archie.V, Silva Hound, HMage, Nicolas Dominique, JayB and I make fully DJ friendly tracks. This means that the track has intro and outro with drum loops which makes it easy to mix in with other tracks. If the track doesn't have this, transitions get really broken. Sorry, but there is no fix there. Also, the tracks need to have according BPM, and that is 120-140 BPM. If the track is not in this range, it cannot be used. I am listening to the tracks you mentioned from Chain Algorithm, and they indeed do sound good, I will see what I can do for next ASOB. Oh, and Everfree Radio does the uploading to YouTube, not me.

yeah i've made some posts on the forum and people need to make dj friendly tracks for mix in and outs or put out club mixes of their original track if possible. otherwise it makes it a lot harder. alright best of luck to you guys. if there's any download links for mp3's so i can listen to these on my ipod let us know otherwise i'll try to rip to mp3 from the YT to listen to #4. cheers.

[One-Trick]

ASOB #5 will be much better, I have been hanging out with the Traktor guys at NI. Digital mixing is far different than the day of vinyl records, but I've been learning. Also, trance is not my focus, so this is a fairly new experience for me.
