So here's the deal, this collab with Bloo is for Evdog's New Sincerity album, which is due Wednesday and I'd like feedback as soon as anyone can provide some. I wish I could have posted this sooner and not have to rush you, but ♫sometimes it just turns out that way♫.

There's little time left and I haven't been feeling well these last few days, so things like the overall structure and lyrics are pretty much now set in stone. Mixing and mastering are probably the only things I feel up to changing. Also, the more specific the feedback, the better.

The instrumental and harmony are by me while Bloo wrote the lyrics and melody.

Well since I happen to be on right now, I can try to help, even though I'm hardly a pro at mixing.

Bring out the cello a lot more. Cut some of the low mids of the piano to make room for it if necessary. I think the piano could stand to be a bit brighter as well. The vocals and instrumental feel very separate and need something to make them "gel." A bit of reverb on the main bus might help that. And I don't suppose you have Melodyne or something similar at your disposal, do you?

I agree with CitricAcid, The cello can be opened up a lot more, and you should EQ the piano around the 300hz-1000hz range, the low end of the piano seems to be overwhelming the soft Cello. Also, the ending just dies, maybe some soft fading melody to end the song. And maybe some reverb on Bloo's voice when she starts to sing the last verse, slowly bring the damp down and the wet up and fade it with the ending melody. I'm just going with whats going in my head right now, so it may turn out awful, also, perhaps during 1:40-1:50 you can bring the Cello in and lower the piano a little, or during any moment without vocals, after you've EQ'd and mixed them a little of course, those are just suggestions.

I made this new WIP, which hopefully address Citric's points. I didn't spend an incredible amount of time on it, though. It's everything minus the vocals because I don't have them; Bloo added them herself. Let me know if I'm on the right track. (Basically I EQed the piano, boosted the cello, and added a little reverb)

Nice EQing, the Cello is alot better and the reverb made a whole lot of difference to the ending, Good luck!

Now that we have up to two more weeks to submit (thank you, Evdog!) there's time to work on any bigger issues that you may have had with the mixing. I personally feel that it sounds much better.

One specific question I wanted to ask, though, is if I should add any more instruments. I think that it can work with just the piano and cello, but I'm open to trying out more such as percussion.

That being said, I'm taking a break from this for the next day or two. I've listened to the instrumental way too much lately.
