I had to go to an info/enrollment session thing today for uni. I'm not entirely sure yet, but it's kind of looking like i'll have to be going up to uni either most or every week days :c The uni's about an hour and a half or more away from where I live as well.

AND GAAUAURRHRHHGGHH I MISSED OUT ON GETTING SOUND ENGINEERING AS AN ELECTIVE CHOICE WHEN IT IS LITERALLY THE ONLY ELECTIVE CHOICE I THAT REALLY WANTED TO DO. IT WAS FILLED UP BY PEOPLE WHO AREN'T EVEN DOING A BACHELOR OF MUSIC BEFORE MUSIC STUDENTS EVEN GOT A CHANCE AT ENROLLING FOR IT. I AM LEGITIMATELY PISSED OFF OVER THIS AAUAURRGRGHRGHAHGRARIGARH

Yeah I'm in the same boat with uni (cept for the elective being filled up part. that sucks.)
Right down to mine also being an hour and a half from where I live.

The hour and a half thing was something that I'm alright with, as it was gonna happen whether I went to Sydney or Newcastle as i'm like halfway between both places (judged off of both Universities I applied to being about an hour and a half a way). It's just, Semester two looks like it will definitely be every single day that I have to commute up there. Which sounds painful. First semester though I had it worked out to only be three days until I found out there was no chance of getting sound engineering as an elective, which would have started on the 17th and been done before I even had to start any of the other courses due to it being a compact course or whatever it's called.

Now I have to find some other elective to do or hope that someone drops out of sound engineering and that miraculously I get the place, as all of the alternative directed courses are completely full (even the shitty ones).

I'm excited to start uni and get all that stuff going, but far out it seems like it's a lot of trouble. Everything just seems to be so over-complicated and difficult when it really shouldn't be. Even simply enrolling and selecting my lectures and tutorials was made an excruciatingly difficult task by the really shitty enrolling system that has definitely more room for improving

University of Newcastle. Initially thought it was in the Callaghan campus, but the music course is being done through the Conservatorium, so it turns out it's in the City Precinct.

Oh and you'd think enrolling in courses and lectures and tutorials should be straightforward but then sometimes you get to doing it and all you can think is that one of the people designing what should be an easy system stopped and was like "Hey, y'know what would really piss people off?..."

TAFE was a bit like that for me. I don't get why they don't just find a way to streamline shit like that. JMC had the right idea, I just filled out an application for an enrollment package, waited for it to arrive, filled that out, gave em my proof of education and a couple other tidbits and that was all that needed to be done.

I guess i'm overreacting a bit, but even people who were working there thought that it was needlessly more difficult than it needed to be and that none of the other courses were so complicated in enrolling. You could sort of get the hang of it after about half an hour or more of wasting time, but you risked losing the best/most convenient slots on the timetable if you weren't fast enough.

I'm just glad that it's mostly over with for the time being. And that one of my good friends from school is in the same course. That's definitely a plus.

You've probably said it/spoken about it before hand and I've probably missed it, but what Uni did you get into, and what are you studying?

JMC Academy. Bachelor of Audio Engineering. I'm pretty happy about it too, it was my ideal choice and I got it first try :D

Nice, man! Congratulations :3

It was same for me, got my first preference first try round. I got 1.75 above the ATAR I needed and 4 bonus points due to location, and my Uni audition went really well. I got in for a Bachelor of Music, with song writing as the principal study.

The course I'm going for does a bit of everything. Recording, live sound, electronic music composition, even some stuff to do with electronics to fix broken speakers and stuff like that. It's pretty broad, I like that :P

It sounds great! Going off of what I enrolled in today, it looks like i'm going to be doing music theory (score notation reading writing) keyboard study (I need, can barely play piano and my notation based theory could be better xD), performance, collaboration (which is very encouraged), composition, recording and (possibly) some engineering (which would be more definite if I got that damn sound engineering course :C) etc etc things things.

I also found out that the reason Sound Engineering was full was because It gives priority to second year students (who probably missed out due to the second year students before them repeat cycle), so if I want to do it (spoilers I do) then I have to wait til next year unless someone drops out and I get their place (spoilers that won't happen)

All in all though, it looks like it's panning out rather well for both of us :3

Yeah :D
There's also a ton of collaboration at JMC. Apparently every year all three departments (film, art, music) team up for a group project. The music students write a song, the audio students record and mix it and the art students storyboard and do any other arty/graphic design needed and the film students produce a music video.

And they often have music and film students working with the Audio students for assessment. Along with game design. I'm really looking forward to that :D

Oh, and it turns out that a fair few people I know from Highschool are also moving to Brisbane. So i won't be completely alone there.

See, I'd like to do something like this when I go into college. I'm only a sophomore in high school as it is right now, but people keep saying that now is the time to start thinking about colleges to attend. As far as scholarships go, I'm most likely to end up somewhere here in Texas, but I have no idea which colleges have the best course for what I want to do. Any suggestions, perchance? Tips?

So my computer is actually still banned from MLR but my phone is not.... Strange cuz it's on the same wifi.

Actually, google chrome loads the website and then sends it to me so maybe my iPhone is just on a permanent proxy because of the last update? Idk actually though but I guess it doesn't bother me too much because I primarily use my phone to browse here.

I somehow made a patch that works backwards pitch wise. Higher up on the keyboard is bassier and lower is higher...wut

Are you using master pitch stuff?
Because many programs has this weird thing that when you pitch something with content in the very high end it'll go above the limit and go back to the start aka adding content in the super lows instead, it's VERY bad =\
