So I made this thing and don't have a clue what to do with it now. Maybe you can help.

If that doesn't simply play, you may have to download:

Specific things:
1. I'm fairly certain that I want to build on this, but how? I'd rather avoid adding strings since I use them all the time anyway.
2. Maybe I could add a little intro? Just a few seconds to set the soundscape?
3. What genre would you even call this? Orchestralish is the closest I could think of. Maybe that will become clearer later.
4. I'm not fully sold on this title, either. Like so many of my titles, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

If you're hearing strings in your head, then my advice is to add strings, even if you feel you use them too much. If it sounds good, it sounds good. The whole thing actually sounds like an intro of some sort to me. It's really cool, sort of ominous, like it's trying to build into some crazy slow trudging metal track. (Which I totally want to give a go at just for fun.) As it stands, I don't think it really fits much of a genre, but I'm awful with genres myself. I'd perhaps describe it as background music, as it sounds like it'd be right at home in an old school final fantasy 7 type RPG.

Unfortunately I'm pretty bad at building on single ideas, particularly if it's a single instrument. Not sure how you feel about adding percussion, but this idea can literally break off into any genre you want it to at this point. Try throwing random beats over it and see if you can get ideas.

Couldn't help myself, so I threw this together over the past hour. Was fun to kill time with.

Also, lol at the guy trolling. Perhaps find a forum that isn't so slow/inactive to dick around on. It'll keep your interest for longer I'm sure.

Because this forum only regularly has like 9 users on at a time. You're pretty much only talking to yourself.

So I'm gone for the day and when I come back, wow, five replies! Looks like a lot of people commented on my WIP. How nice.

But no, apparently some there was some troll who made posts that got deleted before I ever saw them. Seems like it was an especially weak effort at trolling, too. What an odd thing to wake up to.

Last time I used a music box I added strings next. I was really feeling strings anyhow, it's just my fallback. I like your cover, by the way. Not exactly the direction I'd take it in, but cool nonetheless. I'll definitely experiment with adding a beat or something.

I love music boxes. They're so atmospheric and cool!
I think there may be some issues with the transitions in the first part here. Like the different parts don't really fit together. I would perhaps suggest adding a supportive instrument here, like strings or a cool pad of sorts, to bind the different parts together.

I also agree with Foxtrot that this sounds like an intro. I'm looking forward to how this will progress.

I would like some sort of continuation on the glass sounds coming in at 0:23 and perhaps shift the focus over to them later down the line?

That glass sound is actually a wrench if you can believe it, and I don't have complete control over it. It sounds cool, though.

Weird how this WIP is getting all the attention yet It's Her Nature is the one I'd much rather have feedback on.
