Hey guys! I'm CometGoat. For the people among you who have not yet met a CometGoat, I bid thee good luck in trying to understand me. My good friend Luprony should have a concise encyclopaedia in production soon.

I'm 17 years of age, and I live in the fine (and rainy) city of Cardiff. I am currently at Bridgend College, studying a L3 Extended Diploma in Music Technology. Music has had a fairly large part in my childhood, with me playing trumpet since the age of 7 and in a number of groups. I am currently a member of the Cardiff County Youth Orchestra, Symphonic Brass, and I'm also well chuffed to have been accepted into the National Youth Choir of Wales for 2012!

Music production has always been a magical thing for me, ever since I saw my brother creating music on reason years ago. I started to learn to use Reason 4 in late 2009, as it was Reason 2 that my brother used. It took time for me to learn the very basics, but it wasn't until the spring of 2011 that I really decided to learn how sounds are made, and how to create and synthesize sounds of my own. The past few months have seen a lot of development and experimentation with me as a producer, and I'm really striving to continue the trend.

I sadly have not yet made anything pony themed, but with the new Reason 6, I have a full DAW at my fingertips, so expect me to be making pony toons soon!

Here is a quick sample of some of my most creative and experimental music of recent months:

Hey everyone.

My name's Lupr, I'm good friends with CometGoat (in real life), and I've been in a number of the Skype chats for a few months, albeit somewhat quiet.

I haven't really involved myself in this community mainly because of a lack of confidence in my own ability, but also because I feel I should only be bringing musical discussion to the group. Due to certain issues I've been unable to delve into music as much as I'd like to over the past few months, although I'm hoping to really get better starting this month.

My first interaction with music was when I was around 13, although it was only chopping up samples in Sony Acid Pro 6. After abandoning music for a couple of years, I then came across FamiTracker at around 16. Although not part of the 8-bit scene, I did find the program very interesting and used to it compose, although at a level no more than 'messing about'.

After wanting to get somewhat serious about music, I aquired Reason 4. It was pretty scary making the jump from FamiTracker to Reason, but I'm slowly adapting. I just need to get some fundamentals down really, and perhaps be a bit more confident.

Anyway, I'm glad I finally signed up, and look forward to the future here.

Much love.

Hi everypony.
I took far too long to sign up here but I finally did.
My name is Callan I go by the name ByCelestiasBeard.
I make a fair few different genres of music, I'm studying sound production at college and I'm in my second year. I've been making music for a few years but once I discovered ponies in January 2011 I found a new inspiration and now I can only make songs to do with ponies, which is fine by me because I love it.

I hope I can get into posting lots on this forum because everypony here is awesome.

Peace dudes.

Hi guys! I am Chris/Facexplodie, and I just found this thread! I'm a Northern California resident, and I like to make loosely-based electronic songs n stuff like that. Which is funny because I mainly play in progressive/death metal bands. Been playing bass for a good 7 years now, and been working on screaming/growling vocals for about 2 years. I. LOVE. PLAYING. THE. DRUMS. But I'm not that great at it.

I only recently started using Logic 9, and its been a blast. Before that I was using an old version of garageband. I'm attending college for a degree in recording arts, and should be done in less than 2 years...hopefully.

The pony who I can associate with the most is Rainbow Dash, because I have anxiety problems and Im an adrenaline junkie. haha

Not a whole lot of bronies in California, nnnnope. I only know one IRL. Oh wellzies. Im super happy to be apart of this community.

The signature is a lazy rearrangement of the top portion of my CD's album art, which was a collaboration between Interrobang Pie and myself. I fucked up SUPER PONYBEAT VOL 1's art, and I-Pie fucked what I did up more and added cool effects.

Hey everyone,

I'm Joe :D . I'm 14, and I've been into music for a long while now. I started out playing trumpet when I was about 4 years old. I eventually moved on to drums, and then guitar ever since I was 8. I used to listen to alot of metal and classic rock, but then I discovered electronic music in January 2010. Needless to say, I instantly fell in love with it. I wanted to start as soon as possible on making it. I bought Ableton Live 8 with some money from my college fund (oops) in about June of 2011. Ever since, I've just been hooked. And now, I've got a forum that not only shares my taste in little girls cartoons, but music too! I look forward to getting to know all of you guys ;)

Hey guys!

First off I just really wanted to say thank to all you awesome musicians here in the community. If it wasn't for the stuff you guys have been putting out, I probably wouldn't have picked up music again. It's been really inspiring to see all the creativity in this fandom.

As for me, I first picked up playing music seriously around '97 (besides plunking around on my parents' piano when I was little occasionally), learning to play trumpet for middle school band. From there I kept learning new instruments: mallet percussion, more piano, drums, before finally settling on guitar as my main instrument of choice. I did world championships for WGI in percussion ensemble in high school, playing marimba and xylophone. Around that time I started a progressive rock band as I was learning guitar, in which I composed all of the music for. It lasted several years before breaking up in 2007 due to direction conflicts and distance, after which I kind of lost the drive to play music. So it feels really great to be playing again and writing after a 5ish year hiatus from music.

I'm also a 3D animator, currently honing my skills in an online school. And as of next week I'll be working full time as a 3D generalist as well.

Looking forward to trying to be a part of this community and writing some great music!

Howdy, everypony.

For starters: My name is Koty. My DJ name is @ppleBukker. I hope someone else hasn't already taken this name. I'll gladly change it if so.

I've had a huge interest in music ever since I was really little. I first got serious about making music around Christmas 2008, when I first learned how to play guitar. I know how to play a little on the piano and various other instruments. Today, me and couple of other guys have a garage rock/alt. rock/ punk rock band.

I've always had an interest in electronic music. Since the Summer of 2011 my interest in it, and more specifically ponies, grew. I found EPR one day while stumbling on the interwebs and the rest is history. As of this past Christmas 2011, I got Ableton Live Intro 8. I'm looking into upgrading it ASAP. I'm here because I've seen through various posts how everypony is supportive and creative. I hope I can be a good addition to this community and hopefully my works will become worth something in time.

Hey everypony, how's it going?

I'm hiero. Some of you may or may not recognize me from reddit, specifically /r/mylittlepony, but I'm finally breaking into the pony music scene. I don't really have a musician name, and I'm really bad at making new things up, so I suppose I'll just... stick with hiero.

Bit of a back story, I suppose: I'm 21 years old. I've been playing music since I was about 11, starting with the piano, but I didn't really get into it until I was 13, when I was given my first acoustic guitar. When I turned 14, I was given an electric for my birthday, a Squire Stratocaster (typical beginner electric). Over the years I've acquired three other guitars, an Ibanez Acoustic, a Greg Bennett electric, and some other crappy guitar with a built in amplifier, which I no longer own. I've also owned several keyboards, my most current being a Casio. I've also recently come into ownership of a microKORG XL and an Ocarina. Also FL Studio 10.

When I was 16, I started getting into electronic and industrial music. I started listening to bands like VNV Nation, Assemblage 23, and Nine Inch Nails, all which really have influenced my music in one way or another. I love all genres, save maybe... country and some rap, but I find almost all music has a story to tell. Unless you're Nickelback, and you just want to sing about booze and women, but if that's your thing then... cool, I guess.

I got into MLP back in the summer of last year. I kept seeing images all over the internet, mostly of Rainbow Dash, and I didn't understand what was happening. When I saw the Pony Physics YouTube video, I knew I had to watch an episode, so I did, and I marathoned straight through the whole season in three days. The rest, as they say, is ponies.

Anyway, I'm kind of just dragging on and on at this point... sorry about that. I look forward to being apart of the community and hope to become an active music maker!

Postby iTwi » 13 Jan 2012 22:18

Haldo, everyone! My name is Zack, but you can call me iTwi. I've come here to learn the art of music making, and start doing something I've always wanted to do! Ever since I became a brony, my number one favorite thing about the community was the amazing music, and recently, I've been wanting to get involved in the community, so I figured, why not make some music? Hopefully I can make someone as happy as I was when I heard my first pony remix!

I've had an interest in music since I was a wee little colt. I would always love to sing in church choirs with my mother, and still do today. I started taking piano lessons when I was 10, but I didn't really get into it. I still know how to play piano, but I'm not the best. Then, guitar hero came out, and I did what every kid did when that happened. Ask for a guitar. My parents got me a squire stratocaster, but I lost interest in it when my fingers started to hurt. I was a real sissy back then. Then, rock band came out, and I was all over those drums. So, I asked for a real drum set. My parents were skeptical, but they got me one any way, and were incredibly relieve when I actually stuck with it. I've been playing drums for about 3 years now, and getting better all the time. 4 months ago, I sucked it up and taught my self how to play the guitar. Not much though, Just basic chords and things. But, I've always had a real interest in electronic music. I heard my first house track and was like, I WANNA DO THAT! So I got FL8's demo and created a horrible, horrible thing. I gave that up for a while, and when I discovered ponies, they gave me the inspiration to try again. And here I am now!

TL;DR: Hi, I'm iTwi. Let's make some music.

Postby Scooteroot » 13 Jan 2012 23:23

Hey everypony! My name's Kaya, but since most people pronounce it wrong (not that I'm complaining), the lot of you can call me Scooteroot! As to why I picked the name "Scooteroot" is a story that I won't bother boring you with.

Because I have no idea as to where I'm trying to go with this introduction as I don't usually bother making introductory posts (talk about a first impression), I suppose I can skip the "formalities" for lack of a better word.

I am an introvert. A real introvert. You know that one guy in your high school you went to that never participated in any group effort whatsoever (and oftentimes went out of his way to avoid contact with other people) and always sat alone at the lunch table? Of course not! Because you never noticed him! But yes, I'm that guy. If you require an example of how bad I am, it took me nearly a week to muster up the willpower to list the pros and cons of considering the possibility of registering to this forum, and even afterward I was debating with myself on whether or not I was really just trying find excuses not to register, which I was. I'm not kidding.

But you know how most introverts (in the movies, at least) have some special talent that makes up for it? Well yours truly must have been standing in the wrong line because I got shafted on that pick. I'm a total blank flank here.

So in that sense, I'm more of an art appreciator than I am an art maker. So a majority of my time on this forum will be lurking for more bangin' brony beats. But who knows, I may sling out my own inevitably badly-constructed and made entirely out of presets but it has pony samples so it's technically a brony song...song one day.

Why yes, I do have no confidence whatsoever? How did you know?

Please don't misunderstand me, though. Why I may not have confidence or self-esteem, I can assure you that I am not one of those "introverts" that feign having self-esteem issues to gain sympathetic compliments and commissions and such. I know the Brony community is all about love and tolerance, and I apologize for this, but I hate those kinds of people with such a flaming vigor that I could snuff out the sun if I concentrated hard enough.

Wow, that quickly turned into a rant.

Erm, not to worry though, as I get more comfortable with being on this strange new forum, I'll start to lower my defenses and become less of a Debbie Downer to be around. If the Brony threads on some other forums I frequent are of any indication, then the transition should be fairly quick and I'll do a personality shift and start cracking bad jokes soon enough [and perhaps casually spilling my innermost secrets (in joke form, of course) because losing all self-respect for myself has actually made me happier as a person, but that's another story].

tl;dr

I'm an introvert and exceptionally mediocre at everything I enjoy doing.

Oh, by the way, favorite background pony is Vinyl Scratch, my favorite pony out of the mane six is Applejack, the pony in my (as of this typing) avatar is Renard Queenston, and I like Gilda.
Although I'm more of a music appreciator than a music maker (due to a lethal combination of laziness and lack of self-confidence) I do have rare moments where I actually do make stuff.

Leafrunner, you sound like you have a lot of experience producing music already :D
@pplebukker, hiero, don't worry too much about getting into making music: I spent a month or so just staring at FL studio, making nothing. I now regret that a lot because I could be a month ahead of where I am now if I had just ponied up (rimshot) and started making stuff.
iTwi, this sounds exactly like me! the only difference is there's a 99 percent chance you procrastinate less, so you'll probably surpass me in a few weeks :D

Hi, I am DJPoniver (or Poniver for short :3)

I create songs with a different range of genres including Dubstep, Techno, Trance and Ambience. (don't know if that is even a genre XD)
My favourite genres are basically what I create, Speedcore, Nightcore and Metal (or Heavy Metal) occasionally.
One thing that has fascinated me most about this amazing community is the music, and I have been wanting to contribute ever since I heard Alex S's music, including others like Wooden Toaster etc.
So that is when I started making electronic music, this is also when I stopped listening to Metal music, I barely do any more now, still love it though :3

.I use FLStudio 10
.My main VSTi(s) are Massive and ToxicBiohazard
.Many drum samples and vocal samples :3

My Youtube is http://www.youtube.com/user/DJPoniver & my skype is djponiver :3

Hi!

I currently go by the name of Dr Sorkenstein and have been attempting to make music for many years and only recently reached a level where I could muster the courage to post my music online. All because I stumbled upon a little show we all know and love and heard some excellent music by talented people.

I make music with a laptop, midi-keybord, Reason 6, guitar and piano. Hope to learn a lot in the future and get to know y'all. Youtube is: http://www.youtube.com/user/DrSorkenstein

Thanks. That's currently my problem, how did you guess? :P

I've been working on a track for the past few days now and I haven't done anything but create a verse and an outro, and I'm well aware that structurally speaking that makes no sense. I'm not certain which direction I want to take the song and I've basically just been hypnotized by the FL Studio screen making absolutely no progress whatsoever. I'm fairly annoyed by it.

I'm going to have to comment on that as well in that you've just summed me up the best way possible in one sentence.
