There isn't enough minimal pony music
Well, look no further than FESTIVAL OF HARMONY
A freely available compilation album meant to get musicians to put aside their differences towards these more controversial genres and actually get down to producing some!
BUT VIRICIDE Hasn't there already been pony house compilation and charity albums? What makes your shitty album different? WHY DO YOU ENJOY BIG ROOM?!
Calm down, dark blue and slightly harsh and judgemental text. I shall explain.
I've seen quite a lot of stuff in the EDM industry criticising big room, bounce etc for being "too simple" and "the same thing, too generic" etc. But here's my proposal.
Have you ever tried to sit down and listen to a few big room tracks that aren't Lrad or Martin Garrix? Or a bounce track that isn't Timmy Trumpet and SCNDL's "Bleed"? Minimal house is some of the best shit to play loud as fuck through a stereo and subwoofer. Creating big room and bounce music drops is really fun, and can be really creative when it comes down to it.
BUT VIRICIDE What in the everloving John Hurt is big room and bounce music? It sounds terrible! I ONLY LISTEN TO DAFT PUNKKKKKK!!!111!!!11ONE!ELEVENTYSIX!!!!8
I prefer to explain genres through presenting you with songs in the styles of aforementioned genres. For big room, my suggestions may be obvious. Lrad by Knife Party is one of the most known big room songs for being so controversial
and then there's this asshole:
KNIFE PARTY BECAME SHIT WHEN THEY MADE LRAD, IT WAS VERY BAD AND THEY SOLD OUT AND IT'S GENERIC AND BAD AND I DISLIKE IT THEREFORE IT'S BAD
But, more suggestions would honestly be songs like Tsunami, and a lot of the music promoted by Spinnin' Records and such. Another example I can name from memory would be Rhusma by Stereotechnique. You can also check out my song ReFaint from my album "Silane" if you want.
Bounce music I am a bit more familiar with. Popular songs in this genre I can name are "Ah yeah" by Will Sparks, Bleed by Timmy Trumpet and SCNDL, but other songs I would also recommend would be Aha! by Sam Osman, Drop That Bass by Djuro and Error by Will Sparks. Promotional channels you can go to would be Melbourne Beats and Melbourne Underground. Bounce is often associated with the Melbourne electronic music scene which is pretty much where the genre came from.
BUT VIRICIDE These genres seem easy to produce! Is this all you're allowing for the album? I WANT TO PRODUCE A COMBINATION OF TRAP AND MOOMBAHTON!
Of course this isn't all I'm allowing for this album. A lot of the genres I'm wanting for this album are minimal, like bounce and big room. Genres you are also allowed to produce are festival house, minimal house, moombahton (NOT moombahcore. Moombahcore is a much more heavy gritty drop orientated genre. Proper Moombhaton is very minimal. Like Sleaze by Knife Party), Maaaaybe deep house, and progressive house (The minimal stuff, kinda like deadmau5's Sometimes Things Get, Whatever)
Alright Viri, you've explained the genres and what you're looking for, but what about this album? Is it for charity? When's the deadline? Is this pony related? Aren't you already running TLK5? Are you biting off more than you can chew? Can I have some, I'm hungry as fuck, I WANNA CHEW SOME
Alright, now some stuff explaining the album. I'm not one for organising proper charity stuff. I dunno how to. I wouldn't really know where to begin. One of my main goals for setting this up is to give people a chance to try all these minimal, festival and "beatport top 10" songs properly, to go up for an album.
ALSO. This is important. THIS ALBUM MUST CONTAIN PONY RELATED MUSIC. Even if it's just the name. I don't care if you /pretend/ to have pony inspiration. But the album's gotta be pony related. We need to introduce this style of music to the brony populous.
I'm extremely sorry if this has already been done before. I'm kind of dumb if you hadn't noticed by the way and I don't pay much attention. As far as I know though, this is the first album of it's kind.
This is not for charity. This is going up on bandcamp for free. Please don't let that be a turnoff though. It'll be great fun to produce this kind of style, I promise.
Collaberations are ALLOWED. Featuring singers, rappers etc is also allowed. Ask whoever you want. There is no sign up. I'd like it if you told me you were participating and who's participating with you if any, and if you have skype I'm going to set up a skype group for this so people can show others their attempts, get collaberations and stuff etc.
Now for the deadline. The deadline is the TWENTIETH OF MARCH. March 20th. 20 days into March.
MARCH. TWENTIETH. It hath been written.
I may or may not extend the deadline, but yeah.
Yes, I am running the lesser knowns 5. Go check that thread out. but the deadline for that is just over a month away, whereas I have four months to sort this out and you all have four months to make something I can jump up and down to.
You can make a total of TWO SONGS.
Remixes are ALLOWED.
If I'm missing anything or you want to know more about a particular thing or if you have any questions, please leave a comment. If you're interested in participating, please leave a comment and if you have skype and I don't have it (I have like over 400 skype contacts you're probably gonna be on there) gimmie your skype and I'll add you to the group
If this album does well, I'll be super happy and give you all a special ViriKiss!
Thanks if you're participating, and good luck!
Since I'm leaving the forum, and others possibly will be idunno, I'm no longer continuing with this project. Sorry to everybody who participated and please feel free to finish your tracks and post them on your own regardless, I'd still love to hear them! <3
