What do you think about Pony Confessions tumblr blog?
It is causing a lot of drama in the brony and MLR community, so I am curious what do you think about that blog.

I agree wholeheartedly. It was a cool idea, but now people are using it as their own personal place to bitch about everypony and everything. Lots and lots of butthurt with that blog -- I stopped following it looooong ago.

I'm honestly not sure whether I find the mass of ignorant submissions annoying or hilarious. Both?
I stopped following it after like a week.
If it was actually about ponies it could be entertaining, but instead it's just people complaining about the fact that other people think differently than them.

But honestly, all of the bitchy/whiny posts on ponyconfessions don't bother, because it's just like anything else on the internet. People expect bronies to be better than most of the internet, and in alot of ways they are; but they're still people, and people just LOVE to bitch and moan anonymously on the internet about stupid things, like stupid little pony blogs. Wait... FUCK. <_<

well the ironic thing is that everyone saying that X, Y or Z is the source of so much hate and that it is ruining the fandom.
however from what I hear about most people is that the pony confessions tumblr is the source of most of the hate in the fandom...

I however still folow it. there are some posts I like but a lot where I facepalm and just keep saying to myself that the perticular post is posted by a vocal minority in the fandom.

The term, "hidden porn stash," didn't just come out of nowhere. If you follow the r34 community and/or interact with like-minded people, that's perfectly fine. We all have our own little quirks. Just remember that not everybody shares that quirk, and when you start a public tumblr representing you in the music community, people will go to it because they want to follow as a fan of the music you create, not as a fan of whatever happens to turn you on.

When I see Rainbowdutch's tumblr in his signature, I expect to go there and follow him because I want to see news about future projects and/or more information about him. If I wanted to visit a porn site, look up r34, etc, I'd do it myself, but I certainly wouldn't want to click on somebody's tumblr in hopes of following a musician only to find that it's basically their own public porn stash, which kind of defeats the reasoning behind the term above.

I understand both sides tbh, you can easily be interested in r34 and the music side but i guess people's point is that if you go to a musician's blog you shouldn't expect to be bombarded with porn. If tumblr had a [you are entering a nsfw site, are you 18+, would you like to continue (like blogspot)] it wouldn't be as big a deal but you don't get that warning, you also get that content included if you follow their stream, and that's the issue. By all means surf and enjoy pony porn in your freetime but there's a time and a place and respecting other people's eyes and values (and some very young people may follow your music). Tumblr shouldn't by default isn't a porn site nor should someone expect to see that there w/o warning. A second blog can be created for that.

But Versilyan is right though in that you can boycott their tumblr's and if a music related project of theirs comes down the road you'll likely hear about it here or elsewhere. People also need to move on if someone isn't going to change thie ways and stop trying to get an 18 year old first time blogger not to post like a mature adult. Some people just aren't that serious about this as others and ARE acting their age. .

Honestly I'm incredibly disappointed with how the blog is turning out, it could've been such a good idea and every once in a while I see a post that I think is actually thought provoking and can do good, but instead those are lost in a sea of useless "I LIKE R34" "RAINBOW DASH IS BEST PONY EVER" etc. etc. etc.

It could've been an amazing engine of social change, connecting the concerns of an individual with the masses, and yet instead it's just the place where people blurt out half thought out, often duplicated posts of what everyone already knows.

That's what I meant by using it as an example.

The example was based on the fact you advertise your blog in your signature, and likely on your YT channel, and other outlets. My example wasn't about the content of your blog.

Just wanted to point out that many musicians and other artists advertise their tumblr publicly just like you do, and when doing so, people are going to visit them because they are interested in whatever they are a fan of you for, whether it be music, art, movies, etc.

When somebody advertises their tumblr or other blog publicly, and a fan clicks it in hopes of getting updates from the person they are a fan for, seeing a blog devoted to adult material or r34 images is pretty much the internet equivalent of a slap in the face. Fans that do not enjoy that material, or are against it, will legitimately be hurt seeing their favorite artist or musician devoted to it, and in the end, you have a lost fan. Somebody who used to be inspired and looked up to you, no longer does.

Considering I've had many fans inspired by my PIRL videos that they send me personal messages of thanks, or that I inspired them myself, there would be nothing that could hurt me greater than causing a fan to lose their enjoyment of what I do. Sure, some people will vouch it's their personal blog or tumblr, they're free to do with it as they want, and in truth, it really is. However, if you keep your personal things to yourself that some may look down on, or potentially lose a fan over, my question is, wouldn't it be better to avoid the situation in the first place?

You don't see Skrillex posting his own fetishes on his website, nor do you see Tool posting their own views on gay marriage or abortion on their website. All their websites show, is material related to what fans will visit the website in the first place. There's a reason why they don't do this.

If you're a popular brony musician, you ARE a professional artist in the community, and with that comes the responsibility of providing your fans with material related to that profession in a professional way. Subjecting your fans to your personal life, political viewpoints, or favorite porn photos, is not something a professional artist would do, and if you are a professional artist in the community, it would behoove you act like a professional artist.
