Have you ever started making one song but then quit halfway through and completed a completely different song? How did that make you feel?

I do that all the time. The first 3 songs I recorded were half done or not really done at all and kinda mediocre in quality, and rerecording them as a whole song was a major pain. I started and finished another song which I didn't put alot of thought into writing, and i'm kinda down about how I put so much effort into recording a full song that I wasnt keen about rather than the two that I had actually planned and thought about what I was doing in each one.

I did it again recently, I started doing a metal cover of something, didn't go the way I thought, took a break, and accidentally wrote a new song altogether without thinking about it. It annoys me. I'm getting the stuff I don't want to do done instead of the stuff that i've really put alot of thought into.
