Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

I'd love to, but I'm still sort of new and I'm not that great.

I'm subscribed to you, because you're awesome. Welcome to MLR!

I am ALWAYS (Well, almost always) up for a collab!
Joined the site as i finally made something original and not totally suckish.
In short, im 19, busy with studying, started learning music a month ago, barely knew what music is prior to that. Haven't picked what genre i'd like to make yet, but im leaning towards trancey stuff, especially progressive. Otherwise, im just another guy from somewhere in the world.

Hi! I'm Black Snootie. After listening to a few remixes on the youtubes, I was inspired to try and learn this art of music-making.
I use/am still learning FL Studio, I've been playing the guitar since I was 12, and I'm really into thrash metal. I do have a pretty wide range of music I'm into though since it's pretty much my life. I'm not sure how much time I'll be able to devote to working on songs and stuff because I'm currently going to school to learn game art and design, trying to find a job and finish some MLP shirt designs I have in mind, along with some other stuff I'm probably forgetting. So basicly, I have a LOT of different interests and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about all of them.

Ha! I found the introduction thread! Well, hi there, I'm Plaaay. I try to make music. I use FL Studio. And real instruments. Uh ... I started making music at some point in summer. It was late at night and I was like really bored. So I simply took some voice samples of MLP and made them into something like a song. Now I mainly concentrate on genres like Industrial, Alternative and Metal. ... I ran out of ideas what else to write here. Need more tea. Oh, one more thing, I'm open to any sort of collaboration whatsoever. That helps me to improve and keeps me motivated to make more music. As a final word I would like to say that you all are awesome!
Found this introduction thread just now, I wonder why I haven't noticed it before.
Hello, my name is Eugene, also go by HMage. I regret registering under this username and I wonder if it's possible to change that.
I'm an audio engineer at daytime job, I see musicians come in with (musically) completed songs and I do make it sound solid and polished. Over years I became curious how it is like to be on the other side of the fence.
Jumping directly into composing music felt like a big leap though, so I've spent several years teaching myself how to DJ, this gave me, surprisingly, more insight than I expected about music, song structure and key compatibility. I still do DJ'ing but not that often than I did before since my mission was completed and I feel more confident in starting to make music.
So, I'm learning how to compose music, hard stuff, lots of stuff to learn but very gratifying.
My first ever song was done quickly, just one day, but I didn't like how I've spent too much time on trial and error: http://soundcloud.com/hmage/nightflow
Then I tried myself on sound design, attempting to recreate the cellular phone interference as a prank, but then I've checked to see how it would sound like with some release time and it sounded wonderful, so I've spent several hours on making a simple melody: http://soundcloud.com/hmage/cell-phone
Sometimes, looking back, I don't think I've ever really made an original song yet, these two tracks are just well mixed long sketches.
Anyway, I've returned back to DJ'ing and had an epiphany, that, since I'm not that good at making melodies yet, I'm very good at making songs sound good, provided they have enough melodic material, I can try myself at making a remix.
I've picked a song that I really wanted to dance to but it wasn't dancefloor friendly at all. Took me three attempts to do it properly but last iteration has taken only three weeks and it was substantionally better than anything I've done before: http://soundcloud.com/hmage/jon-hallur-below-the-asteroids-hmage-radio-mix
After long pause (whole year!), due to lots of IRL stuff going on, I finally have some time to make something music related again. By now I'm confident that I'm a brony. And I've found a community that would benefit from my contribution while I'd get more experience and knowledge in return. You guys are wonderful!
I'm offering anypony my knowledge, skills and tools, out of belief that my help will raise the bar for whole community, even if a little bit, and let everypony make better songs. In return I'll be pestering with musical questions or maybe do collabs with somepony.
Just realized I never made a proper introduction >.> How rude.
HI! I'm Tommy, or CaptainFluffatun, or Fluffy, or whatever other variation you wind up saying.
I like making orchestral music, as well as rock, but am currently getting into more tech-y genres. However, I do LISTEN to everything. I use FL Studio for all of my fake, can't-play-that-thing-in-real-life parts, and audacity for my guitar. Open for collabs, but I'm not sure how productive I'll be. Having just found this thread, but already participating, this community is so nice and supportive. So many helpful folk, and everyone is so sweet. Glad to join~
I don't believe I have introduced myself fully either.
I'm Likonan/Likko/Lee. I'm a multilingual artist, dancer, remixer who's also a Third-Culture-Man/Pony.
I use Mixcraft 5, which I consider OK for now, and I've dabbled in music since 2009, starting with two mash-ups. I've only seriously begun to make music back in March/April 2011. I define my remixes as "Ambient Dance".
I am BigAppleDoom. I've been making music for nearly three years now.
I was introduced in making music at seventh grade. The program was Steinberg Cubase Studio 4. Then our school got a deal from Steinberg; We could buy Cubase Studio 5 or Sequel 2 programs for a discount price, so I bought Cubase Studio 5 for myself and have been using it since that.
Right now I am looking for some new VST instruments, plugins and an upgrade to Cubase 6 (or should I change to another software?). All I need is more money.

IRL I am 16 years old and play violin.
A great orchestral VST I just picked up -- and a lot of others use -- would be LA Scoring Strings. It costs a buckload of money, and I don't think I'm supposed to endorse a cutlass and eyepatch on this site, so I won't, but you get what I'm eluding to. To use it, you'll need a player called Kontakt from Native Instruments. It sounds marvelous. It contains cellos, basses, violins and violas.

I am thinking about buying Native Instruments "Komplete". I think it will meet my demands for now. As I know few other string instrument players and have a decent recorder, I could record string sections instead of just creating MIDI-tracks.
I've tried FL Studio 10 Trial. It needs some time to get used to "non real time audio editing", but it was so easy to make good sounding drum patterns. The price wasn't bad either and its very commonly used.
I'm Belgerum, and I just recently got into ponies and music composition. I've been doing a lot of work with the technical aspects of music in school composition projects, (I'm a high school senior) as well as playing the Trumpet. Though I don't have a lot of experience with mixing, and other polishing aspects of music, as my music can clearly show, I do have the compositional study down pat. I'm looking to go into college for music next year, pending applications.
As for software, I currently use Propellerhead's Reason and audacity for vocals/recorded stuff. I don't have the fanciest setup but I try my best!
Belgerum: Musician, organizer of the "Lesser Knowns" albums, and total weirdo.
My name is Erik Cochran (aka cyrricky). I live in Pittsburgh, PA, and I make music sometimes. I started making music around a year ago, and got into ponies in mid 2011. I started making pony music in November-ish, and have been working on a pony album since then. Genre-wise, I try to mix things up. I feel that if I stick with one genre, things will get boring. I started DJing around the same time I started making pony music, maybe a few weeks before.
I used ModPlug way back when I started producing, but luckily I eventually came to my senses and started using Reason. I could never get the hang of FL Studio.
I'm totally 100% open to collaborations or remixes of any sort, mostly because they're good at driving me to keep producing stuff.
Hey guys, I know I haven't been on here in God knows when but I'm back (Not that any of you remember me). Just thought I'd come back because, meh, why not, I missed you guys.
Hi! My name's Mirage. I also go by Slitherkitty, or Kitty Kittaj. I've been told that I need to stop being so modest and shy... My genre is loud n' sassy electronic; a mix of hardstyle, chiptunes, and trance. I like to experiment though~ I use whatever the latest version of FL Studio there is, primarily since I'm so used to it.
I am addicted to Tumblr. Like, really bad.
My favorite pony of the mane 6 used to be Rainbow Dash, but then I discovered the intellectual nerdgasm that is Twilight Sparkle. My favorite pony out of all, however, is the delicious Berry Punch~<3
I'm really nervous when meeting new people, especially those with talent (which is everypony here). I also am very new to forums and stuff. IF I WERE A STARCRAFT UNIT, I WOULD BE A LURKER.
I've also been told I talk too much, but some say that's a good thing.

WELCOME ABOARD! Modesty is good, but you don't need to be shy around us :3 We're a loving community as I'm sure you've noticed from the Skype chat. And if we assume everyone here has talent, then that includes you!
Hello! My name is deathsia and I'm a PMV maker! I figured i'd say hi to everyone here. I'm not sure i qualify as a music maker since i only do PMVs but I do like to think that it at least allows me to be here at least. ^^;
I was recently given permission from AcousticBrony and MondoPony to make a video for them. ^^
Hello! I call myself Bactatanker... for now. I've technically been in MLR for a few months, but I haven't stopped in or talked much. Partly this is due to me still learning the basics of music and ableton (which I'm picking up very quickly), but mostly because I don't know many ponies here. I'm all to eager to become active in the community though, I just have no clue on how to do that.
I'm working with Ableton Suite(just bought it... Legally!), and have the basic launchpad and nanokorg setup. So far I've been Experimenting with all sorts of electronic, but I'm terrible at matching genres. So I just mix till stuff that doesn't sound like music is gone. Here's my best attempt so far: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIq0RLJQ ... ideo_title
So yeah, all too happy to jump in, just need somepony to tell me where. Oh, and I am looking for a new name. Bactatanker has been mine for years, but I need something fresh.
Oh my, I've had an account for ages but was too shy to actually try and join the community, so suppose this is real introduction this time, meep.
I'm Kie and I've been working on music in Fruity Loops for around half a year now. Haven't really made anything yet and am still mostly experimenting and learning stuff, but it's a start.
I'm a 19 year old Brit and absolutely love electronica so figured I might as well try to make it, I'm not really a very social person but I'm quite eager to try and get to know everypony here and 'ave a laugh.
Hello EveryPony! I am Kai EverHeart....or DJEverHeart.. I am Your Average Night Club DJ (Phone calls EVERYDAY T_T) I posted a W.I.P and forgot to explore this forum to find the introduction thread...but as u can see i found it..
I gave up making music months ago(Due To Depression/Stress), but stumbled upon this great community that got me back to doing what i love....
