<original><instrumental><dance?>Fashion Experiment

Just like last week, I made another experiment. This is the first time I have ever tried to make music you could dance to. It's a bit out of my wheelhouse.

Like my last experiment, it's not a full song, it's just a "sketch". I need to practice actually releasing stuff on a regular basis until I'm better at finishing projects. I'mma keep making these experiments every week, even if I only have like, an hour to work on them.

What should my next experiment be?

Sounds like something between house and funk to me. More like Genesis-era VGM, now that I think about it lol

The bass is too muddy for my taste, I'd go for a more pure, sine-ish tone perhaps?
oops I dropped the bass

will you pick it up for me

I was thinking the bass needed more high end actually. You literally cannot hear it on my laptop speakers.

I see. You could add harmonics around 500 hz (mostly because just now I was working on my bass guitar tone and found a pinch of that sounded good, and translated decently to other systems). The low end sounds muddy anyhow, did you use any other tones than the fundamental and octave above (assuming you synthetized it)? Maybe try another waveform, like a sawtooth?

Loop that, it sounds like it would be a dance song if only it was actually long enough to dance to, it just sounds like an intro.
