<Dubstep><Non-Pony> Wisp - Dreams

Postby Wisp » 29 Jul 2013 10:32

I wanted to try something new, so I made a dubstep song! This is my first serious dubstep song I've ever made, so I would love some feedback on it. I am very proud of it because it turned out exactly as I wanted it to :3

Dayum.

Well first of all, the sound design going on in here is excellent!
A couple things strike me if I had to give feedback. The intro sorta goes in for a while, so maybe bring in some pads subtly around the 25~30s mark (wherever that measure starts). Also, I'm
Not a huge fan of that style of buildup anyways, but here it just seems a little out of place. By no means does it destroy the track; but maybe in the future you should think what style of buildup best suits the vibe of your track?

That's all really, great job on this one!

Thanks for the feedback! And the buildup was just something new I wanted to try out, since this whole track was about me trying out new things :D

For some reason to me it sounds like the crash cymbal is off-beat from the kick drum.
The laser effects in the drop don't change pitch fast enough, it just sounds like a sound going from one note to another, it doesn't have that "pewpewpewpew" feel to me.
Also as others have said the buildup doesn't really fit to me, I think just a kick drum roll and maybe a filter sweep would have been better.
And lastly the doubletime part at 1:24 seems a little abrupt, I think it would have fit better in the second drop.

Otherwise, I liked it! The melody was nice, the bass was nice, the drums were nice, etc.
Producing mediocre drum and bass since 2012.
Stuff I use: FL Studio 12, Harmor, Sytrus, Maximus, Akai MPK Mini, Numark Mixtrack

Yeah, I think I probably could have done better with the lasers xD
Thanks for the feedback!
