Hey! Been a while since I've been on this thread! As you have just seen, our (probably) newest member, Nutty Strife is collabing with me. He'll be providing vocals for the track, although due to time constraints on both our ends, they sadly will not be present in the WIP I'll be submitting in the next day or two (in time for the deadline). I hope that clears up any confusion, and I should probably get him to make an intro to this forum...
Anyways, yeah, my song will be a collab with Nutty Strife, just clearing that up.
I love making music, but I don't have a genre I stick to. I just want to make music, so if you want to hit me up for a collab, go right ahead!

Funny how there're only 5 WIPs in your Google doc, yet there're tons of WIPs that don't count as submissions in this thread.

I know mine wasnt a submit. I just did that for feedback. I actually am not going to submit a personal track anymore due to its (insert negative term) state

(Due to its crappy state
Due to its horrid state
Due to its smelly state?)

Although I am not apart of this album, I would consider that since lots of people are backing out, maybe it's because the deadline is too demanding? Basically 3 weeks to sumbit a song in a month when there are lots of albums that people are already focusing on that were set for their date earlier, as well as the fact it's summer and people do go on holidays. I'm not saying 3 weeks isn't enough time, but when there are so many other things that come into play in that time, and people here, over time, have progressed significantly in how they view their work, and are looking to make better quality music, 3 weeks really is tough to break.

I'd suggest maybe pushing it back a while. Just my two cents.

First of all, I'd like to express that you aren't exactly correct. It's been three weeks for people to submit for this first deadline, yes, but I am only asking for a work in progress, not a completed track. Again, this could be 15 seconds long, and be very quick and easy to make if they wanted. With this in mind, and considering the submission dates afterward, I've given participants about 6 weeks to make their completed track, though they have deadlines for smaller parts. I don't think this is any stressful time constraint at all, nor is it impossible to complete with other things on their agenda.

However, I won't discount your opinion, since obviously, this hasn't been as successful as past albums, and people are indeed quitting on me. I'm not even sure if i should be continuing to organize these "Lesser Knowns" albums at all, since there isn't much incentive for people to join it while there are other collaborative projects with more popular people behind them, and I can't promise much for the participants for their hard work.

However, for now, I am going to leave the deadlines as they are. A deadline extension for one person is possible, and if people really want them, they need only to ask. But for now, I'll stand by the dates unless I get enough people asking, or if enough people quit on me that the project becomes in jeopardy. If the album becomes a total flop, so be it. I'm sure other albums would be worth their time more anyway.

For the record, I'm not quitting because of the deadline; I'm quitting because there's no incentive to join. Also because I don't do pony music.

This is not a submission as I have already Submitted. I just want to hear some feedback on what I've finished so far. I am going to finish recording this song soon (today and tomorrow), and I have finished almost half of the song so far. The song is supposed to be very reminiscent of Early-Pink Floyd, so very psychedelic-Hard Rock. Thanks for any of the Feedback! */)

I'll be honest, I'm not entirely sure what other incentives any artists who are debating taking part in TLK feel they need covered.

This project is an opportunity to:
1. Create a song you may not have come up with otherwise
2. Have that song featured on an album alongside the work of other artists
3. Make connections and maybe even friendships with those other artists!
4. Receive constructive criticism for your work
5. Help put together a project in which the proceeds will be going directly to charity

I guess I just don't understand what else anyone would be trying to achieve from involvement in a fandom related collaboration album.

From what I've experienced/seen of TLK, the series continually helps bring together a small community among many of those who have worked on it. I'm not sure if popularity is one of these incentives people may feel is missing here, but if that is the case, while there may not be big names among the fandom contributing tracks and subsequent popularity to it, I think it's safe to say the connections resulting from the project are more important than any popularity gained.

Don't beat yourself up, Belgerum. You're doing a great job!

tl;dr- TLK is way awesome and while it's totally cool and understandable that people have other obligations, it shouldn't be written off for a lack of incentives and should definitely to continue to be a thing!
