The HurricaneY wrote:What they should have done is made a small album to raise awareness and a bit of cash. And try to get people like Tombstone, Sim Gretina (people who make rather a lot of songs) etc. To make a song for that album to raise even more awareness. The musicians in Musiquestria are really good. Mic is basically a brony celeb to quiet a few bronies, Silva Hound is quiet well known, F3nning is amazing at Cons anyone who's been to a Con or seen one online would know. Replacer, Poni1Kenobi and Tarby are awesome but they're not as known, well Replacer is but not as much as the other Silva or Mic. And the other three, I have not heard of them.

I heard from Tarby that there is some sort of album going along with this, but I'm not really sure exactly what's going on with that. I agree that even if bigger name artists can't actually tour it would be great if they would support it.

I actually have heard of all three the unknown musicians, but yes, they are pretty much unknown and I probably only know of them because I've paid a lot of attention to the scene and notice a lot of details. Anyway, Donn DeVorre is mainly a rock musician and is best known for his song "She Can Fly" which was the featured song from Seeds of Kindness. He also played with Tarby at that one gig in Seattle. I think Bejotey is an orchestral composer and I think I heard about him from some soundtrack thing, I think it might have been an event where animators were teamed up up musicians. I actually only recognize Automatic Jack because of Rainbow and Rooted, he made this weird Electro-Metal song with Syklesis or something, and I latter saw a Cybergrind song from him in MoatD. However, if I recall correctly he is actually a rapper of all things.

The fandom's MONSTERS OF BRONY ROCK have mostly fallen back and there are all these new/underrated people that are amazing but don't get exposure.

vladnuke wrote:This is the first time I'm hearing about this.
They should advertise more if they want moneh.

ganondox wrote:I think at least part of it is lack of word. People haven't really talked about it much, and that's a shame.

One announcement post on EQD and another for a Musiquestria 24-Hour Live Stream Event.

Not good enough. EQD is the hub of the fandom. You need like a banner on a EQD for something like this to get the exposure it needs. No banner ads on Derpibooru?

Wisp wrote:I think it's having a hard time because a lot of people don't live in those major cities and don't want to travel to there. Especially when they could travel to a pony convention where they get live music AND all the features of a con instead.

+1

RainSnowHail wrote:Probably cause the only musicians everyone knows in this fandom are Toaster and Tombstone. Neither of which are gonna be here.

Freewave wrote:i would hope you wouldnt need Glaze or Tomb to make such a thing work although a little more star power couldn't hurt.

Viricide Filly wrote:Because not every brony lives near to where they're going? Or even in the same country for that matter.

like it'd be a totally different story if Glaze & TLT were Amurkinz but they're godless foreigners instead (just kidding, we all know that Israel & the UK are the 51st & 52nd states respectively lawl)

itroitnyah wrote:P.S. Mic hasn't made a song that he's posted since early February. Other than that, he mostly only posts dramatic readings. He doesn't really do music nearly as much anymore, it seems.

..........I don't wanna go THERE, buuuuuuuut let's just call a duck a duck. The "biggest" guy on the tour according to the Almighty Sub Count is somebody who got there by riding TLT & Glaze's wave w/ a couple of ultrapopular collabs (Nightmare Night has 2,162,837 views good GOD the official animated video for Killer Mike's "REAGAN" doesn't have half that wtf) from dang near 2 years ago. Since that initial wave of music, he's basically been popular for his Epic Rap Battles of Equestria vids, dramatic readings, voice-acting, gaming livestreams, OC art, and general fandom celeb status.

HMage wrote:Keep in mind that music part of the fandom isn't that big -- people don't go to cons only for music, and having a music-only brony event is bound to have attendance issues.

And we come to the center of the shrubbery maze.

MictheMic the only name on the bill most bronies recognize. That says something about how casually most people approach "Pony Music". They like the show's songs and a few cool remixes and a few original songs they've stumbled across and that's it. I think seeing the big Bronypalooza stage last year gassed a lot of people up into thinking this fandom music scene is a much bigger deal than it actually is. This is why I always joke in chats about "I was the TLT of the Rugrats/Catdog/Reboot fan music scene back in the day", like who cares? Fan Music simply isn't nearly as important to fandoms as Fan Art and Fan Fiction. Look how much money has been raised for hardcover copies of fanfics or high quality r34 novels.

The Doctor Who fandom is known for it's music, and there have been a few successful acts in the Harry Potter fandom. Other than that the brony fandom is pretty much unique in it's music output. I think the big reason why fanfics and and art are dominant is because they seem to be more directly related to the source material. That also explains why show remixes are relatively popular. The thing with the brony fandom is that it has a lot of everything, not just fanfiction and artwork, so that the music scene a chance to grow.

Honestly the problem i don't think is the lineup. Sure it could use some thrown in "star power" but IT IS quality musicians who i think CAN put on a good live show when brony music hasn't translated tried to go to a quality live set very often before. If that's what works for them and they are friends its not really our job to "make an ideal festival lineup" but more about to see what we can do at this point to help it out while its still the only one ever attempted.

Tarby is one of the most prominent figures in live brony music if not the most. While he isn't particularly well know in the fandom as a whole he seems to be significantly more popular with the more non-dubstep music focused part of the fandom and he keeps showing up at various things.

Hey i love Tarby's output and he's a great guy. One of the few musicians who always keeps his tumblr alive with what he's doing and with plenty of responses back to people. :)

Well shit i asked Tarby how we could help, showed him the thread (which he was interested in seeing) and then he put on do not distrub and hasn't responded back to me. Hope he doesn't think I'm an asshole for pointing out some of the flaws in their plan. Really wasn't trying to be a critical jerk. :( Really do want them to reach out to the rest of the music community for support as we'll give it and to figure out a way for their tour to succeed.

Tried to get AutomaticJack to play my Rainbow and Rooted track, called someone the Unabomber, and listened to a lot of really good music. Shit was fun, worth the $10. These guys make an alright show.

I'll post my vid on it later. Gotta get back home from fucking Hollywood, thank jesus i didn't get a ticket for parking in the red or ill be mad at all these goddamn bronies.

But yeah good concert.

Mr. Bigglesworth wrote:To be honest I think this whole thing is some people getting ahead of themselves. They told some other people about this idea, and of course they thought it'd be a great idea, but they've still aimed too high. Big things start small, tour maybe 2 or 3 states, get some attention, which would (hopefully) secure funds for next time and get bigger after you're sure it can be done.

Starting this big is kinda just taking a massive guess on whether it'd work or not.

Yeah, I feel that it would of been better to start out small. (It worked for bronycon.) Maybe just start out by going from San Francisco to LA to Vegas.

Well, it sounds like it's been successful so far, and now we have official word from EQD about Tarby's awesomeness. Let's hope the rest of the tour goes well.

Hopefully endorsements and blurbs from EQD and Everfree Radio can give them the push they need. Just getting the word out is a huge part.
