<Pony><Remix(Orchestral dub)> Is this good for my first song

Postby SovreignMusics » 21 Jun 2013 00:46

Hey Guys, I've been working on a Orchestral dub of Luna by Odessy Eurobeat (Sorry if I spelled that wrong) and I wanted to know what you think.

This Is what I made in my first week experimenting LASS full. Soon, I will get the entire suite of EWQL Products, but thats not the point. I want to know, what I can do to improve, and how long should I take on my songs.

I know nothing about orchestral music but I just wanted to say that I thought it was really good especially for a first song. Keep at it!

I'd say you go a little bit too heavy on the staccatos. Literally every note in the melody is staccato, which is kinda like cussing a lot. Sure, a cuss here in there can emphasize a point by shock value alone, but if you cuss a lot, then you sound like you just don't have a better way of expressing yourself. Use legato to pull phrases together, then emphasize the important bits with staccato or marcato. You can use this in your rhythm section as well.

As you progress in music making, you'll also learn a lot about counterpoint and such, and what kinds of instruments are best for what kinds of musical parts. Orchestrations have a lot of sounds going on, so there's a lot of opportunities to mess around with that kind of stuff. It's not just trumpets, woodwinds and violins on melody and trombones and bass on bassline.
