What else do you have, synth wise?

As a future Electrical Engineer, seeing Bob's prototypes is hugely inspiring

I've got a couple little synth things I've built... mostly single VCO with no volume control built in... And then whenever I can I go to my cousins place and mess around with his... oh and also we have a Casio CTK-550 which is a cheap-ish keyboard (no full synth controls) and I used to have a microKORG

Very cool. Add a Feedback circuit, where you basically take the output from the filter, feed it through an attenuator, and then back into the filter. it is FAT as all get out!

Speaking of bass heavy synths...my Moog Sub Phatty came today! It's glorious. I was skeptical of the Multidrive function at first, but now that I've goofed around with it, I'm in love.

I'm curious, do you ever play around with synths made by companies without 'MOOG' in their title?

I do, occasionally...the majority of what I do with synths musically is monophonic, so while I've got an RMI Keyboard Computer and a bunch of roached out vintage organ/piano/string machines as well as some more modern polyphonic gear, the music I make doesn't call for them nearly as frequently as it does monosynths, preferably played with bass pedals, leaving my hands free to play guitar. When I look at my musical development, a pretty good number of the big breakthroughs in my understanding of sound and music came from artists using Moog gear (or descendants thereof) or my experimenting with different Moogs.

I own but one hardware synth, the Casio CZ-1 and I love it dearly. Programming is quite intuitive if somewhat different. I might at some point post a demo if you guys are interested. For an 80s digital synth, it produces some rather harsh stuff. ;)

Jealous! I haven't been able to get my hands on one yet. I do have a software synth that is supposedly a bit like the Casio CZ series.

Which one is it?
I should probably get one that eats my sysex dumps in case the cz-1's internal battery finally nods off. :)

Sure! It's not that big a deal. I'm still curious if there's a real software equivalent.

Does the Korg Kaosspad count as a synth? Pretty sure it doesn't, but the KP3 is awesome. Also MicroKorg. Everything Korg.
I.
Fucking.
Love.
Korg.

Also, I had the pleasure of messing with a Roland Jupiter 80 once and holy tits that synth is awesome.

It's an effects modulator... KORG's best stuff was in the passed... Although the MS-20 mini is good it's still cheaply made... If I ever get my hands on a bloody wave station i will be happy
