And well, if they're a dick about it, I just ignore them for a few hours, then see if they can behave. I've found that this time around it's became more easy for me to ignore people, in spite of how hard it was for me a few years back.

Sounds like typical high school bs i guess. People are pretty painfully aware of other people's business in those years so if its not that then it will something else i bet to use against you. Is being a brony in general akin to being a freak from the get go at your school? I still dont get the hanging out on mlr but dislking the fandom thing or buying into haters arguments. But whateva. I dislike the general fandom (not the show, although I haven't watched that since Season 2 ended) because of the overall attitude of many bronies on the internet, as well as the stereotypes associated with it, because believe it or not I'm actually somewhat popular at my school and besides that actually I care what others think of me because I'm not a naive idiot who buys into that 'be yourself no matter what other people think' bullshit.

I dislike the fandom for a variety of reasons, including a tendency to be overly quick to judge things, massive butthurt over stupid or minor things, and many people showing a scarily intense, almost cultlike devotion to the show (y'know, the people who own 20 pony shirts at minimum and always wear one, have pony accessories, cosplay as ponies, etc), not to mention the "love and tolerate" shit that they always try to fling at you (usually between comparing a hater to Hitler and/or cussing out someone who doesn't like the show but doesn't mind bronies).

But this is getting really off topic, and we can continue via PM if you wish (or not, either's cool with me).

Yeah man, that tends to be used really passive aggressively. If you're actually gonna tolerate someone you can do it without saying "LOVE AND TOLERANCE LEELELOL," which you must know will just serve to infuriate them.

My toilet is a small room with no lock on the door, so when I shit I've to push my arm against the door. That pushes me to the side though so I've to push on the opposite wall as well.

I dunno i look at love & tolerate as essential to the core of the fandom. When trolls are using it as a shield THEY are doing it to annoy people that they're actively trolling and use it as an excuse to get away with it. That's a lot different then accepting what is a bony philosiphy; a wide and diverse fanbase that caters in a lot of different way to differing people, that accepts people from different genders and orientations, and that essential comes back to don't hate on others and have a community that tries to identify with the inherent positivity and creativity of the show. I just don't see that as a joke, something to reject, or irrelevent. There's a lot of things i don't like in the fanbase (likewise as i don't like a lot of things in real life) but i accept them as just part of how it is and try to ignore the drama and negativity.

I do agree with you 9Volt that you can't be ignorant of how other's see you, especially in real life. Especially in high school when that's the most important thing that matters tbf. I do think its quite fine to be a brony in rl w/o advertizing it anywhere and I'm rather closeted when it comes to all RL friends and family, as i wouldnt expect them to get it. There's a lot of bronies who haven't got the good sense to contain themselves and yeah that can be embarassing to us. But that's just a small minority being randumb.

I think you misunderstood what I meant, Freewave. I was talking about those people you see responding to trolls (generally brony flamers) with what amounts to death threats, then following it up with saying that they're going to 'love and tolerate' the troll (which, to reiterate, immediately follows insults and death threats).

Meh i hate troll wars, its just nor worth even dealing imho. The few times i had people troll on my youtube i just banned or deleted their comments. You ignore trolls or they win, they feed off the drama.

The characters in MLP very intentionally have psychologies similar to human psychologies, and being able to empathize with them is a stated design goal.
