The Summer Sun Celebration Charity Album.

Postby kingsleyrulz » 22 May 2013 21:24

Looks like summer is here, which means it’s time for another album! The album will be free, with optional donation. The proceeds go to charity, specifically your siblings. We will have a works in progress check in (maybe 2) during which point myself and a small group will give constructive criticism and advice.

DUE: August 1st (Date may change) to [email protected]

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
-Submit a .wav using box.com - PLEASE
-The song should be somewhat happy
-Maximum song length is ten minutes
-The song should be related to summer as the theme but need not completely stick to it.
-The song should be child-friendly

SUBMISSION TITLE FORMAT: "Artist name - Track name"

FAQ:

Q: What type of genres are allowed?
A: Any genre is fair game, though keep in mind that some genres are intrinsically less happy than others, so you might have trouble making the song sound happy. If you can, then more power to you.

Q: Are collaborations allowed?
A: Absolutely! Friendship is magic, after all.

Q: My computer died right before the deadline. Can I have an extra day?
A: If you submit after the deadline, there is no guarantee that your song will make it to me in time, so try to submit before. If by some miracle I receive it before the panel prelistens, then I will still accept it. Again, no guarantees.

Q: Oh no, prelistening D: I am the poop at the moosik :,( I may as well not even try.
A: Nonsense! The only way you will for sure fail to make it on is if you don't try at all. As cheesy as that sounds, it's also true. If you truly think you need work, then work! Ask around the forum and skype groups for help on your tracks. There are plenty of qualified musicians to help you out. Now go make music.

Q: Can I make sixteen billion songs for the album?
A: You can submit as many as you want, but you're only shooting yourself in the foot if you go more than two. The more time you divide up for all your crazy projects in the small time frame you have, the less likely it will be that any of them will wind up as a quality piece at all.

Q: Does my song need to include ponies?
A: Though the album is officially pony, non-pony submissions will be accepted with equal regard.

I'll probably be able to make something for this, especially because it's in the summer.

What's the point of this? I mean there's loads of events currently taking place and your making an album just about summer for publishing at the end of it? Any info on the charity as that's generally why people would make a charity album.

Sorry not trying to stir up drama but you're missing a lot of info in your presentation for this. If this a sequel to a previous event album I'm not seeinng mention of that as well. :|

To hone ones skills and have fun.

Why summer? Because people, mainly the younger generations, have much more time to work on their music in the summer. Thus, they can improve more and do better while stressing about it less.

I wouldn't necessarily say this is a charity album mainly because it's not actively seeking funds, he just said if they happen to get money it will go to charity, specifically Your Siblings. Sure he could have put some info on Your Siblings in the presentation but honestly they're fairly well know around here so most people already know what there is to know about them. However, for convenience, here is a link: http://yoursiblings.org/faq

I don't believe this album is a direct sequel to another, I think he was just using the term "Time for another album!" as a way of saying that alot have been done recently so let's do another.

Just trying to help :)

Hmm... I might have a song almost ready fitting that criteria. Might want to mess with it a little bit more before the deadline though.

hmmm.....
Well, I am at the tail end of writing a song that would fit the mood of album. The thing is, I plan on making it a collab. So I will have to bring it up with them (assuming they agree to colaborate).

Ooh, this seems interesting. Might give this a shot.

Maybe a remix of Jackleapp's Summer is in order.
