4thImpulse - The Old Temple <ambient><pony>

Remember that old castle in the first episodes of MLP, the one in everfree forest?

This song is sorta about the idea and history of the castle, the castle is deserted and creepy now but it must of had great memories at some point. I tried to capture all those feelings in this piece.

Its an ambient track, I don't know ambient enough to to know what sub genre it is, I think I did pretty alright.

Really nice! I love that sound of distant vocals. It makes me think of walking around an otherwise creepy place, but on a bright sunny day when nothing can scare you - so, you nailed it. ;)

For someone who doesn't listen to ambient, I liked it. I felt that Cherax hit the nail on the head in terms of what I thought as the song progressed, but that might because I read his comment beforehand and then listened to it haha.

As I said, I don't listen to ambient enough to really judge your track too well, but I feel it was simplistic, yet captured the moment that you were aiming for. Especially at the 1:15 point, that's where I kind of felt like it was the person discovering something that looked ancient within the castle, as the sun beamed through, right down on that artifact that you had discovered. I also felt like it was someone who had never been to the castle before, basically going on a journey.

Thank you both, its good to hear I got the feeling right with this track. I too know very little about ambient but I just felt the track coming together and I didn't want to stop that.

Without them the track would be nothing, there's something strangely powerful about vocals, even when you don't understand them or they are just sounds.

Its far to easy to just keep adding elements and layers until something sounds good, a lot of modern electronic music is like that today because there are so few restraints on the potential size of a track when compared to 40 years ago. I hope to one day be able to create a track with very few layers and have it still sound full and good, from yours all feedback it sound like I am going in the right direction.
