<non-pony><House&Trance><EP> Celestial

Postby LutariFan » 23 Apr 2013 01:40

Hello!

I made an EP called Celestial with two songs, Morning Sun and Crescent Moon. Morning Sun is a house song and Crescent Moon is a trance song.

Feedback would be appreciated! Also, if you liked the songs, I would be very happy if you left a like/subscribe/whatever on YouTube :P

Chord progressions are weird on first one.

Kinda gotta agree with HMage. The chords are kinda odd in the first one. They seem fine up until the end of the phrase, at which point there's just this weird, out of tune sounding thing. I don't really know how to describe it--the sidechaining makes it tough to isolate.

My very first impression of Crescent Moon is that it's really just devoid of an atmosphere, which is kind of what I look for from trance music. The bassline is very trancey, to be sure, but everything sounds like it's in this very tiny, sanitary room, which is just not what you want for trance.

I really like the chords in the first one. IDK, it's just refreshing to hear a chord progression that isn't C G a F.

However, and this might be a personal issue I have with the genre, the song was over at 4:00, but it went on for a whole minute longer. I really don't like it when songs do that.

I didn't like the second one as much, it just didn't seem to have as full of a presence. As big of a body. As wide of a soundscape. Whatever, you know...

Oh, I thought this topic had died but apparently it didn't :P

Anyway, thanks for all of your feedback.

The chords in Morning Sun are as you probably can hear C-G-D-E, then C-G-(D-E an octave up). I guess the octave up made it weird :/

For the outro, house songs normally have kinda long outros, but I think I could have done better with making it more interesting. And a little shorter.

And Crescent Moon... yea you're right, it wasn't that good. However, thanks for your feedback so I can make better songs in the future :D
