Something fun I thought we could collaborate on, musicians, vocalists, etc.
So yeah, I'm way too attatched to this idea now, and have put enough time and thought into it, I decided it's no longer just an idea, this is happening.
My Little 4 Chords
So, for starters, for those of you unfamiliar with the 4 Chords Song, please check out these two vids of the Axis of Awesome.
You get the idea, right?
If not, nutshelling it, I we're gonna make a medly/parody thingy for MLP related songs, from the show and from the fandom that fit the 4 chords.
Preferably in the same fashion, mini covers with piano and/or guitar, etc.
We'd need at least 3 vocalists. Part of me wants to cap it at no more than 4, but that's not set in stone yet, we'll see. We'll need guitar and if possible, piano as well.
I'm stepping forward as one one of the vocalists. I'm looking for people willing to really get into it. Don't hold back, don't be afraid to get goofy with it, just really put some passion in it, as it's all in good fun.
I've now got planned a little acting skit to go with it, and ordered the songs the way I believe they'll work most effectively, and which tidbits of each to use, but could use some other opinions.
At the same time, in all fairness, I think each person in on it deserves to have some say as to what songs we use. There's currently 60 songs on my personal working list (not all of which are below), and I kinda don't wanna go over that number.. so split up between, let's say 4 (for the moment), that's 15 songs each. Also, don't feel obligated to choose a whole 15, just know that you can suggest up to that many for us to discuss, plan and use in the final product.
After a test run of my current planned song order, it's looking to be about a little over 17 minutes.
Everyone feel free to suggest songs for us to use, the list of songs that work is below.

And what's more, I just happened to find this guy, KitsuneRitsu, who's DEFINITELY on our wavelength!
Looks like he got on it first, but he would be a fantastic recruit to this project here if he's willing to help!
Just sent him a message, we'll have to see!
And who knows, if this actually becomes something, we might be able to put together an off-stage performance of this for BronyCon, depending on who's going.
Just a little ambition! It could happen! Only on the Hub!
This sounds really interesting. Is there a particular chord progression you're going to use, and find all the fandom songs you can that follow that progression? And are transpositions allowed?

@Sonarch: At the moment, I'm actually not sure which one to use yet. I'll probably leave that to the musician(s) to decide what works best with the songs we choose. To be completely honest, I'm a bit inexperienced with it, and my main concern is that it's something I can reach with my vocal range !
Transpositions, I feel might throw it off a bit, as I'd prefer to stay in the same key throughout at the moment, BUT I'm highly willing to experiment.
More songs that work!

If you're sure those all will work with a given set of chords, I'd possibly be interested in doing guitar for it. I can't make any commitments yet because of school and such. Depending on when you're wanting to have this done, and the quality I can get in recording.
I'm definitely interested though!
Might I ask what 4 chords you're proposing to use for this?

Have I got the wrong idea? =s The 4 chords in the axis of awesome are the I, V, VI, IV (relationship to tonic) in that order. If you where to include all songs with any of those chords in any order, I guess you'd be missing the point of the axis of awesome song...! All up for supporting you on this slight variation if you want to do it that way; just thought I'd point out the differences in our understandings...? =)
Unfortunately, mu music experience is still very limited, and I'm garbage at finding chords, however, if you've got skype, I'll start up a group if you wanna help me get it right.

To be honest, I'm the clueless one. It's hard to say, but I kinda just know the tune in my head, but have a harder time putting it into musical terms. I think I'm aiming to stick to the same chord order throughout though.
Is it one set of chords, like "F C D Bb" and you're doing all the songs that can be played with those chords, but in any order?
Or is it more like what Forza is saying where it's the progression with respect to I V VI IV, and it can be any set of chords as long as they follow that pattern?

A lot, and I mean A LOT of the songs you listed don't fit with those chords. This Day Aria is probably the most obvious. And for several of the songs that Kitsune guy did, he changed the melodies to fit with the chords. That kind of defeats the purpose of the whole thing.
This project is an awesome idea, but you're going to have to be careful that you don't mess with the melodies like that.

Perhaps if we gather suggestions, and then figure out their chords, and then see which is the most common?
