What do you think of my new brony mix?

Postby Thomas Jorgan » 29 Apr 2013 11:31

Hi, I'm new to the brony community! I've been working on progressive house music from a long time. I've posted my recent mix on youtube. I haven't mastered it yet, but if you like it you can always like my facebook page and subscribe on youtube! :)

My mix has a very nice summery feel to it. It's very unique, and I wish to have a little brony fan base with me! Please leave your comments and suggestions below! :)

Lots of love from,

The song sounds great. How long have you been making music for?

Anyways, I'd hardly say that a song called "Lemonade" with the lyrics "Na na nana" a pony song, so from my standpoint it really just looks like you're throwing "pony" out there to get some quick e-fame. The background wallpaper for the song isn't even pony related either. I'd just remove "Pony" from the title of the song.

Thanks a lot for the compliment! :) I've just started watching MLP to be honest. I was looking at several forums and some how stumbled upon this one. I didn't know there should be pony related things in the song, including the wallpaper, sounds and etc. I thought Pony mix meant cute and melodic mixes for bronys, I'm really sorry! :)

Haha, don't worry about it, it's fine. Just as a rule of thumb, if you want to make it a pony song, make sure that it's related to ponies and you explain how it's related if it's not completely obvious. If it had to be happy and cute to be pony related, then we wouldn't consider "Nightmare Night" by Glaze pony related  Throwing pony onto the wallpaper or title or just slapping pony samples on a song simply to make it pony related is one of the 7 deadly sins. If you can't find a reason to relate it to ponies, don't put ponies on it. And don't worry about posting a mixture of pony and nonpony songs, people will subscribe to your music if they like you, and if they unsub because they hate ponies, then just don't worry about it, bigoted idiots aren't the people you would want associating with you anyways, lol.

Well everything that's been said above i agree with. There's a lot of good recomemdations in your youtube on things to improve. Using a single vocal sample when you could have found a vocalist and words would have been an improvement and a more complete song. But luckily there's more stuff going right with it then wrong but it is a bit generic. Just remember if you want to make brony music do that, if you want to make regular music do that. But often these are 2 very different audiences that don't really overlap and they will cancel each other out. Also chill a bit about the e-begging, it's not really attractive to ask people to subscribe in every comment you make. A little subtelty goes a long way. Also might want to call your track a track. A mix generally refers to a mix tape which is what i was expecting when i clicked on this link (brony and a mixtape)... :? ;)

Thanks a lot! :) I really appreciate it. Please do share this song around with your friends :) (back to e-begging right? :P) I didn't add lyrics to it, because i had an idea of making the lead, a humming vocal. It's an usual idea and that's the driving force behind the track :) :D

Thanks a lot for taking the time to give me feedback! :)
