<Kinda-Pony Original><Classical> From Lightning To Stars

A song dedicated to my girlfriend for our anniversary as well as the character she uses, Blitz Lightning Streak. Decided to work on my classical and I'd like to think this is my best one yet, but that's not saying much. Either way, was finished in about 2 hours with minor mixing, although nearly every second was dedicated to composition.

Very nice composition, but I felt there was very little happening when I took a closer listen. The chords are nice, but every instrument kind of sticks to their respective little patterns. It sounds like a piece that would have not just the melody, but everyone bouncing around the harmonies, creating the same atmosphere, but more 'busy'. At the moment, the melody has this kind of energy, but everyone else feels a bit lethargic.
I'd also consider a metallic tuned percussion of some kind, like a Glock or Vibraphone, because that would work wonders!

I'm still working on getting more movement in my pieces since, as you said, they tend to be pretty static, and I've always had trouble at getting lots of energy, or the right type. I should've made it seem like it was supposed to be more tranquil, which is what I was going for.

Any suggestions on a good place to get a vibraphone VST? I've always liked that instrument, but haven't found a good one yet.

Thanks for the feedback!

Well I use the one in Spitfire's Percussion range, but if you're after just the Vibraphone, the price may be a bit much. :P

If free is more your thing and you're happy with doing some tweaking, then Phybes would be an ideal solution:

Whilst not sampled explicitly, it still gets a good tone if you massage it a bit.

Dr_Dissonance put down (very well) what I didn't know how to say!

You might want to try an abandon the;
-block chord triad (for a bar) (sometimes + arpeggios)
-rhythmic section
-tune
layout that everyone seems to be going for. It's a BIG step, well, it was for me.
Building music with the complexity to be highly malleable requires more time than 2 of your hours. I often spend hours of thinking before even writing a note.
