making music by itself should be interesting to you, if it isn't, I would seek other hobbies.
Just sayin' ^^

I have my own music buddy that I talk to about my projects pretty much all the time, but the thing is we were friends first and we met through a common musical interest. I'm sure being able to talk to ANYONE about your projects for feedback/whatever could be helpful, but I think it would work best if the connection was a little more organic.
Also, what MeMark said resonates a lot with myself; this is more than a hobby and I hope to use this experience to get somewhere someday.

This is very true in my case. Although I don't dislike the process of making music, listening to a finished song after countless hours of refining it is one of the most satisfying feelings I get in my life.
