I definitely am a jazzer. It's where my love for music
truly started, together with Funk and Blues, as my dad used to play saxophone in a band that played those styles.
But yeah, Jazz is very, very broad. There's the slo-mo old-people Jazz (which I love), the more Hip-Hoppy/Funky Jazz with electronic beats, or better, Trip-Hoppy Jazz (which I both love a lot), there's big band Jazz, with huge bands, fancy non-standard drum solo's, slick guitars, often very ecstatic percussion, and basically a LOT of brassssssss (which I totally love), and combinations of some of these I guess (which are awesome). I recommend the
Buddy Rich Big Band (arguably the best drummer to have set foot on the earth ever),
New Cool Collective and
St. Germain (the original founder of Nu-Jazz, this is a Jazz/Deep House fusion).
Is this to your liking?
Oh also Flao, never heard of Dixieland Jazz before, I'll have to look that up :)
