hottoast16 suggested that once they start there should be a thread about the online classes from Coursera I posted a few weeks ago and I thought that that's a great idea.
Based on the response it looks like a lot of you were particularly interested in the Introduction to Digital Sound Design class which just began so this thread is intended to be a place where we can discuss things and help one another learn. I don't know exactly how many people signed up but it seemed like a fair number and enough to warrant a dedicated thread. Yes, the class does have its own discussion forums already but some might prefer to have a place on MLR amongst people they already know. It could also be a way of sharing some of what we learn with those who didn't want or weren't able to sign up for the class.
I would also like to repost the honor code that they want students to adhere to. Even if others do not I personally will be following this.
In order to ensure fairness, all students participating in any of our online classes must agree to abide by the following code of conduct:
1. I will register for only one account.
2. My answers to homework, quizzes and exams will be my own work (except for assignments that explicitly permit collaboration).
3. I will not make solutions to homework, quizzes or exams available to anyone else. This includes both solutions written by me, as well as any official solutions provided by the course staff.
4. I will not engage in any other activities that will dishonestly improve my results or dishonestly improve/hurt the results of others.
By all means say whether you agree that this would be useful or not, and if you do then maybe there could be a thread for each class or, if that would just get too messy, just a continuous one for all of them? One thing to keep in mind is that later on some of the classes will be going at the same time so if people are signed up for both then having a single thread could get convoluted.
In any case: happy studying, everyone!
