That Discord episode was good... until the end.

Sorta like Too Many Pinkie Pies, they spent so long setting up the plot that the story didn't seem finished when the episode did.

They shoulda cut out the part where Fluttershy and AJ were talking to the beaver and had it just be Fluttershy quickly convincing the beaver to take down the dam and the beaver agreeing and AJ thanking the beaver and Shy, then Dash grabs them, and in the extra time, After the part where Fluttershy says she won't go skating with Discord because that's not how friends treat friends, Discord is all like "whatever" and skates around for a bit, but after a while of skating around he realizes that he isn't having fun and he's alone and realizes that friends are really more important to him than he thinks, and fixes it and finds Fluttershy and apologizes and they become friends again, happy ending.

Alright, watched the livestream. And there weren't any Gak commercials! The episode was great. The ending wasn't rushed, it was good. I liked it. Also, the people doing the livestream are calling some number that they advertise at each commercial break lol. That woulda been really interesting to see the CMC go skydiving

I'm pretty excited and it bugs me because on Facebook I saw somebody whining about how Hasbro should stop ruining the show and start listening to the fans more.

Anyways, like I said, I'm excited to see how it all turns out and I completely trust that it'll be a great finale. I mean, every time the fandom groans and moans about changes that they think they won't like, they're proven wrong so why should this time be any different?

Well, it is very clear that Hasbro made this decision not because it was a good direction for the show, but because they wanted to take the toys in that direction.

That said, I think Twilight getting wings is a valid direction for the story to take. It'll inject some fresh subject matter into the show, and drive the story in a more epic (in the classical sense) direction. The only real issue I have with it is that the current subject matter isn't exhausted. The current group dynamic hasn't matured to a point where any of the characters are ready for this, and there's still plenty of potential for new episodes in the current status quo. They could have gone at least one more season without needing to change up the fundamental nature of the show. I feel like Hasbro's not really looking at it from a storytelling perspective, though.
