<non-pony><ProgHouse> Strobe/Lightwave Intro

Postby Glitchhog » 06 Jan 2013 07:01

Here's the intro track for my EP, to be released later this year. Voxless for now, as my vocalist has suffered some pretty catastrophic technical issues and was unable to deliver them (they'll be on the EP version, however.) Hope you guys enjoy! It's been a while in the making.

Any reason the song almost goes silent around 3:30?
I had this going while I was reading something else, and it sounds pretty nice, but when it hit that part I thought the song had already ended. And when it came back it seemed like a different song. Is that a typical thing for prog house?

I'm just taking this at face value here, I don't know how this is meant to sound with vocals, so forgive me if everything I said will make no sense once those vox are inserted.
My goal is to be capable of making any kind of music that strikes my fancy, and do it well.

It goes (almost) silent mainly due to the second half of the song being a leadup to the second track (and when the EP is released, will flow seamlessly into track two.) It's not a common thing for EDM/ProgHouse, but I like to throw my own style into the mix and make something a little less conventional, mainly because I feel my works are more complete that way. I actually did the same thing with one of my earlier tracks ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfSxclIXAKs ), and it just felt right. :)

Well in that case, it works quite well!

The sound design on those synths is rather great. I'm still a bit stunned you moved onto progressive house from where you were at but glad your'e finding success at it. It's not particular grabbing as cool as it sounds though. Need a bit more energy or a hook to pull me in. The levels do to change a bit due how you have this structured and i'll echo what Sonarch said about the 2nd track coming during the last 1/4. That sounds just weird and it might be the difference between someone sticking around or clicking it off. That 3 minutes should be the hook and if you're gonna go with a transition straight into track 2 I would recommend getting rid of the gap.
