<cover><pony> Raise This Barn (CK A Capella Cover)

Hope I'm doing this right. It's been a while since I last posted here.

And yes, I've come back to shamelessly self-promote. Allow me to continue on to shove some music in your face.

This was the product of me having a random impulse to do something ridiculous like this and just staying up until five in the morning for no good reason singing at my computer. (The word 'singing' is used rather loosely.) The whole song was put together in less than twenty-four hours.

And yes, it is not a remix. And yes, because of that I'm not completely certain it has any business being posted here whatsoever. But I felt like posting it, and I want to get it on YouTube before I put it up for ridicule in front of the Reddit community.

Cheers.
CK
Signatures are really annoying and they take up too much space.

This is actually pretty fun.

What's your recording/producing set-up like though? I was going to suggest spicing up the melody a bit with some harmonies or busier counter-melodies, but it seems like if you added anymore voices the mix would be totally incoherent. If you invested in the sound more, you'd have a pretty good track on your hands.

Basically, I decided to do this, and started recording tracks. I just came up with some basic parts, then layered on top and only changed things up as I had to. Now that I think about it, it really would have made more sense to at least go back and spice those basic elements up a little once I'd gotten a feel for where I was going with it.

I also have a distinct tendency to work from beginning to end, working on all tracks simultaneously, and to not touch earlier sections once I've moved on. Which is probably a bad habit to be in.

This is great, but my one complaint is that the main vocals don't stick out enough for a lot of it, so at some points you can barely hear them. Also, you sound too "mono" at some parts, in a sense that your voice isn't fluctuating from pitch to pitch enough, although it's apparent that you're trying. And I can't really rat you out for this, because I've had those moments too where I would be singing and my voice wouldn't want to jump the pitches very well, leaving me sounding a bit monotone. It sure can take a few tries to get a recording down just perfectly, can't it :P
