<Pony><Original><Rock>Pinkie's In Charge

Postby vaceslav » 26 Dec 2012 09:26

Edit: This post contains the WIP version, the current version is in a reply two posts down.

Made this at midnight, so most of these tracks will have to be recorded again when I can run stuff (amps, vocal chords, etc) at full volume.

Vocals are the most needing of a retake, but I wanted to get a rough sketch down at least.

And i know the words are a little hard to make out, so have some lyrics.

Standing around in the gloomy music,
standing waiting to be entertained,
when the party starts i gotta move it,
i just gotta dance, i cant be retained.

Dance with me Pinkie,
Dance the night away.
Dance with me sweetly,
Dance until they say,

The music starts and I head to the dance floor,
to get a taste of what tonight has in store,
we lock eyes from across the room,
you smile I know we'll be dancing soon.

Dance with me Pinkie,
Dance the night away.
Dance with me sweetly,
Dance until they say,

Pinkie's in charge and the parties going off,
it's gonna be hard to top.
Party's going hard and everyone having fun,
I'm not the only one.

Dance with me Pinkie,
Dance the night away.
Dance with me sweetly,
Dance until they say...

I know that feel man.

As you noted the vocals definitely need to be re-recorded/remixed. They're hard to understand throughout the piece.

I liked the bass solo at 2:30.

The end (like last second fadeout/echo) is sort of weird, like it doesn't fit with the rest of the song.
(Man I am no good at this feedback stuff).

Ok here's an updated version.

You were right about the ending ghelded_kultz, this one sounds a little better.

Just giving this one a bump because I just updated the sound file, and removed the WIP tags.

I've changes a bunch of things. New vocals, slightly different arrangement, new mix, etc.

Still love any feedback.

I'm not much of a punk guy, so I can't give the best feedback since I don't know the standards of the genre.

But I think it sounds good. I think every single change you made from the 1st version was a good choice; I especially think the more screamy vocals really worked a lot better. They sound great, although they also sound a bit distant, like they were recorded from across the room. That might be a stylistic choice though; it makes it sound kinda like hearing the song live and it actually fits the punk thing pretty well in my opinion.

The only real thing I would change is just the bass solo at 2:16 (in the 2nd version you posted), which I think is a bit too quiet.

Good work, though.
