Would ou like/dislike having this particular power?

What if you were given the chance to have a power that magically let you forget everything about each song as soon as you completed it? Would you accept it?

Sort of inspired by the phrase, "We're our own worst critics." No matter how good of a musician you are, I'm sure we can all agree that listening to your finished song will never be as special as somebody else who listens to it for the first time.

Would you like to be able to experience that same feeling as somebody who's never heard your song before? If so, what do you think the cost of such a power would be?

If I could choose to turn if off, then yeah it'd be cool and nice to help give myself critique.

Whether or not I can do as 9V suggested, I would take this power.

As my songs go on, and on, and on, I lose so much inspiration in making them because I listen to it over and over to get the mix, progression, effects all perfect, by the end, I don't even want to hear the song anymore, I want others to hear it, however. If this would put me in that place as an "other", then I would cherish such a gift.

it would be kinda cool but i feel like you can do this already. maybe not perfectly but what i usually do is when i play a song i made, i look away form the screen and walk around my room as i play it. and judge it just like i would judge someone else's.

dunno if that is a good stratagie at makin' good musics but it kinda works for meh. :P

Take my advice with a grain of salt as i too am learning how this music stuff works
English is my native language but it is defiantly not my forte.

if I could choose to forget it or not, then yes.

letting a song age for a while (a week, a month, a half year, whatever) can help a little bit when trying to judge its quality.

I forgot to mention, but my favorite technique is to transpose the entire song down/up 3-5 semitones from my intended root. Obviously this really only works if you have a keyboard you can transpose down as well.

Then you write the song in the new transposition with your keyboard transposed, and when finished, transpose the song back to the originally intended key.

This so far has been my best approach to avoid being sick of the song by the time I finish.
