The Good News Thread

Sports, politics, movies, videogames, questionable hobbies, photos from your family vacation, etc. Talk about stuff that isn't ponies or music. But do try to stay on topic and respectful of alternate opinions.

I'm playing bass for my school's jazz ensemble starting today. I just hope it doesn't eat up all of my time.
I like to think I'm well-rounded because I'm not really good at anything.

Just got back from an informational meeting at school about my student exchange trip to Germany I'll be going on in two summers! Super excited! Next fall I'll be having a German exchange student coming and living with me for three weeks (except for when he/she's away on group trips), and we/they'll be doing a bunch of fun activities around Wisconsin. Then, the summer after that fall, I go to Germany with a bunch of other American exchange students, and we spend three weeks in Germany with the same exchange student that lived with us for three weeks! The trip consists of going to the top of the tallest mountain in Germany, spending a night or two inside a castle converted to a hotel (which is located at a high altitude *squee*), going to a climbing facility and climbing and riding the rope slides through the trees, and visiting many other great sites in Germany! Also, while we're there, we rent a Mercedes-Benz! ...
...
...
Bus. Lol, not a high end luxury car, unfortunately, but a luxury bus. Regardless, I really really can't wait for this trip to Germany.

Well, for some reason, I'm getting awesome ideas for songs today. They're basically loud, heartfelt, and catchy. Also, I'm going, all possible unexpected problems aside, to Teslacon 3 with some friends at the end of the month. It's only a couple hours away from where I live, so getting there is going to be a snap.

Oh, and you guys are amazing. That's always good news, right?

I am so relieved.

So I bought some Shure SRH840s a year ago, real nice cans, but recently they've been acting up, and at first I thought it was just me, but then I took it into the DAW for a test run, and realized that the left channel had a rattly bass.

Oh noes!

At first I was hysterical, because I finally have time to work on music and my headphones are blown, but then I realized I bought those things with a two year replacement warranty, so I'm gonna go use that.

Album back on schedule.

Unless the guy in Guitar Center tries to stiff me.

My australia vacation is going pretty damn good. I'm trying my best not to look like a tourist :3

I'm currently staying in a hotel in Canberra, which unfortunately lacks wifi, so I'm using the wifi at the parliament house's cafe :3

I'm not sure where to put this, but there's a teen nightclub opening on Friday, and a lot of kids from my school are going. I'm not too interested, but I'm still on the fence on wether I should go or not. It doesn't help that my older brother is visiting at that time too.

So should I go, and maybe have a good time, or just stay home and not sweat it. (It's not like anyone's going to make fun of me for not going)

If you're uninterested, don't go, you're 14 right? I mean the good times are only starting to begin, you've got a lot of the same sort of stuff ahead.

Awwww, thanks. I wub u.

But you're right. In fact, even now I've already been to some epic parties, and of course, there's Electric Zoo, which, for whatever reason, accepts all ages. ;)

There IS something else I want to vent about, or at least in terms of making the most of my life, but I don't think this is the time and place for it.

Not a problem! I figured that atleast for me, when I was younger, the parties were always fun, but as you got older, they get better, Grad year was easily the best.

As long as you are happy with what you're doing or whatever your decision is, then there should be no regret.

Made some slight changes to the way I work on music and the way I look at production in general which has resulted in a MASSIVE increase in productivity and the quality of my music. Also, on a potentially-related note, I started working on something last night and I have the feeling this is going to be my best song yet. I'm very happy about all of this! :D
