Yeah, I am one. I never identify as one or talk about it though, as I really have no reason to. I also don't get into the fandom at all, so... yeah.

I think that whoever said that is more comparing the aspect of how fandoms work, where you have the group of people, the group of haters, and the subcategories underneath each that define varying aspects of each main catergory. Sort of like, furry would be yiff to the cute to regular, etc underneath the main catergory "furry". And then bronies would be, similarly, clop to cute to regular, etc.

I'm sure you get the idea.

I've been a furry for about, like 8 years. And I'm 20. So yeah, since I was 12. I'm an old pro.

And the constant bullshit both of these fandoms get from the masses is the chief source of my frustration when it comes to the internet.

And yes, I first got into that fandom through its porn, being the hormonal little nutjob on the verge of puberty that I was at the time. Not the case with MLP though, thankfully.

Not one of them but i just think its kinda silly to generalize a whole group of people as a whole (same with if people did the same with bronies).

I've always loved the artwork and music from the furry fandom, but I don't consider myself an active member of the fandom. I guess that's because I never figured out what the central theme of the fandom was.

Also, I first discovered the furry fandom when I saw NSFW artwork on 4chan when I was 8. I had no clue what to think, and entirely forgot about it until I was 12.

Still to this day I have no idea why the fandom exists. I'm just glad it does exist.

Oh, well in that regard I see there being similarities definitely. I just see that some think that furries and bronies are one and the same down to a T, and that just doesn't make sense.

And what goes on at furry conventions if they don't have guests (by guests I mean people like voice actors, writers, producers, etc... that are associated with a franchise that a fandom is generally based around)?

I just don't really get what the point of it is aside from like, making art type stuff.

I really can't say much about furries other than anthro stuff is nightmare fuel and realistic anthropormorphic animals are too. I used to read Redwall and I enjoyed those books, but it had nothing to do with the fact the characters were animals (although I enjoyed that fact because it made different characters different on a completely new dimension). Most of my contact with the furry community has been with pretty immature kids, and I can't stand that just like I can't stand immature bronies. Immature kids in general tick me off, but especially when they're flaunting around a animal picture saying "amma doggy! amma kitty!" I see those kind of guys on DA a lot, and I can't stand it.
I never really gave furrys a chance, but I don't feel the need to. I DID feel the need to for the brony fanbase, not sure why but I just felt like I HAD to. I'm VERY glad I did, but I'm still not willing to expand into other fanbases just because one is all I can handle right now, and I see nothing else I really want to be a part of.

Nah, I didn't mean it to come across that way if I did. What I meant to say was, the 2 main things that irk me about the furry fandom:

- Comparing bronies to furries based on the fact the show has anthro characters. By that definition, technically an 8 year old kid that watches and enjoys Disney movies is a furry. Obviously, being a furry is more about being a fan of a particular kind of anthro character, a particular kind of art, etc.

- Attacking the brony community because to some, they consider us the bottom of the internet food chain, and many furries lash out at the brony community simply because they can.

On the MechWarrior Online forums I regularly visit, there's an MLP thread, and a furry thread, both of which got a constant stream of haters coming in, so naturally, we defended eachother, and some people explained to me what the real furry fandom is about, which I wouldn't classify myself a part of, but I could realize a lot of them get the same kind of hatred from the outside.

Then, when everything quieted down, stuff like this happens:

Bronies fall under the category of the Shoving it in others faces and force feeding it to them for the most Part from what I understand....

Bronies are kinda like Babyfurs/diaper furs they are furry but are more times than not considered the outcasts of the furry society.

Not really sure what the whole thing on it is but basically theres a few things certain bronies have done that Have shown a bad light on them same with Diaper furs and they are given the blanket youre not that accepted vibes.

I personally prefer to keep an open mind and stay away being considered a part of the drama though.

That's understandable, and personally I wouldn't consider a brony a furry, mostly because there's this barrier that seperates bronies and furries, that is hard to explain, and I can't really think up of how to explain it right now. Somebody else probably could though. I guess it's like comparing fans of Dr. Who to fans of House. The shows both involve humans, but obviously they're different fandoms.

I think that might be because some furries view bronies as wannabes? Lol. And besides, mostly just haters consider us at the bottom of the internet food chain. So I wouldn't fret too much over it.

Well, the amount of fans and haters of either fandom varies per website. on e621.net, pony art gets rated well regularly. On FJ, bronies are generally hated against, and there's little to no chance of making front page with pony content. So I would call it a bad run-in, but it's understandable if it left a bad impression. But just like every fandom, there are the people who are bad, and the people who are better or really good people.
