Furrys?

Postby FLAOFEI » 18 Nov 2012 08:40

You a furry?
Im a furry.
You a brony, or are you a furry who likes ponys?
Id like to know a bit about how bronys look at us furrys, how many bronus here are allso furrys, and how thats working out for yall.

I was in the furry fandom a year or two before I became a brony. Came in contact with furry fandom through Renards music, and all the fuzzynes, and oh god, those fursuits. I still want one, and if I saw one on the street I would RESPECTFULLY ASK FOR A HUG!!! :D
Later I found MLP through a friend, and mostly because that would mean a friend IRL that I actually shared an intrest with I started watching. Now though Im hooked on MLP aswell

For me, being furry and being a brony is the same thing (more or less). Not that everybody thinks of it that way, but its a show where ponies have human minds, which for me makes it furry.

So, what do you guys thing?

(if any furrys are wondering, my fursona is a tigershark named Ray. He is the reason my avatar is a sharkpony. I dont have a character named FLAOFEI, thats just the name I make music under.)
And oh god, pleas dont turn out to be a bunch of haters!

I'm a furry :D Have been since... hmm... I have no idea. But anyways, I'm not a very active furry. I'll look up pictures and stuff, but not very often. Probably because of how picky I am about the pictures, lol. Drawn well, furry (not a huge fan of scallies, insects, farm animals, or tiny little critters). Also can't be too human looking. And stuff. I'll probably get more involved in the furry fandom later though :)

I've been a furry for about 3 years now.
(yeah, since I was 11)
Came in contact with Furries via a certain website that I won't link. Futret's music helped understand alot. But it was mostly the community that guided me.
Reason some Bronies hate Furries in my opinion has to do with the origin of Bronies.
Bronies originated on 4Chan, Does 4Chan like Furries? No.
I'm not going to go to much into it.

The weird ones honestly have made me try to distance myself. So I guess bad first impressions keep me very wary of it. :(

Pretty much this for me as well.

I'm not repulsed by furries by any means, but I'm not attracted to it at all. (Although I have seen some artwork that I do really like). I also think it's partially to do with the massively negative image and community that I often hear about. Then again, I probably shouldn't dismiss it because of hearsay. ;)

I used to be real into furry stuff, but the only reason it really survives at all for me is anthro pony artwork. I guess I just like the aesthetic. I really burned myself out on the community a couple years back anyway.

Well there certainly are wierd ones, no doubt of that. And first impression, those are hard to overlook.
But we arent all bad.

I first discovered furries through WoW (not actual gameplay though, similar to SpyPie). It intrigued me. I really don't have a fursona yet, but I have making one on my list of things to do as soon as I have the time. Oh, there was a (sfw) furry channel on Funnyjunk a while back that's seemed to die down, but I really liked that channel. There's also other places for some amazing furry art though.

I'm not a furry, but I have nothing against them, I know a few friends of mine who are, and I don't think any less of them because of it.

It's never become a factor, even if brought up, because well frankly, I'm VERY open-minded to everything.

If anything, I find the conversations more interesting, because I usually learn a thing or two, and I am quite tolerant of most things.

Idk anything about furries, but I IDOLIZE Renard. OH GOD DO I LOVE EVERYTHING THAT MAN HAS DONE.
And Futret, but more so Renard because HAVE YOU HEARD BRAINSTRONAUTS HOLY FUCKING SHIT I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MANY TIMES I JIZZED THE FIRST TIME I PLAYED IT.

I was asked one time to put on music for a Vex robotics competition. There were 2000 people in the stands. There was a srs pants competition on the field. I put on Because Maybe. The whole goddamn album. No one said a thing. I was laughing SO HARD. (I was half tempted to put on "A picture of finn farting")

He uses so many creative production techniques, and his composition is so spot on and intricate (at times), and his ideas are so funny and inventive, that I can't really say anything bad about him. Sure, a lot of his tracks stray towards experimental, but I love him, spots and all.

Well, I know you, but we never really talked about furries aside from me spouting 4chan bullshit and comparing everyone to Chris-chan. But ever since I started being a brony, I've seen what fandoms truly are.

So yeah, even though I've known you, I've never really seen you as a furry, aside from whatever caricature I had of what I thought a furry was. But now I see that it's not that different (except that there's no fiction that centralizes the whole thing)

Fandomism: Like racism, but with fandoms.

Now think about how all those homestucks feel.

I'm gonna go on a tangent with this fandomism thing.
By the way, it has officially become a thing.
No mainstream movie-based fandoms allowed as accordance to Internet Law

The current leading internet fandom, MLP, will be from now on referred to as privileged.
Pony-privilege is now a thing.

The less privleged fandoms will be as listed from most to least privleged:
Dr. Who and Torchwood
Game of Thrones
Firefly
Breaking Bad
Every tv show on USA
(insert more fandoms here)
Homestuck
Furries
Old School Pony fans
Scalies
Sonic
Dragons and Cars

Note: this is not a scale of best fandom, it is a scale of most internet-privileged.

I'm a furry, though truth be told I only became one because of Renamon and all of the hentai doujinshis...at the blissful age of 13. I explored this wonderful world of 'furry' and I was like, "Yay! I like furryporn more than hentai!" but now I don't look at it all too much, well the rule 34 of it at least. So as you can imagine, when I saw these ponies for the first time, I went, "Omg so cute and adorable its like a hamtaro but its a pony and sparkle to cute!"

Also catgirls...catgirls everywhere...

I myself am a furry... was one before I was a brony... I can't remember when I first became a furry/realised I was one but yea... I don't really care what people think of me because of it... I've taken shit like that my whole life so I'm used to it... *tries to remember what made him realise he was a furry*

I don't like anthro artwork. I don't like fur. I'm pretty much against everything the furry fandom stands for, save for liking a show with anthropomorphic animals, which (from my experiences with the furry fandom) is nowhere near enough to classify somebody with.

In other words, just because a person likes cartoon anthro characters, doesn't make them a furry.

I used to stand up to furries, as I saw they generally had a lot of similar hate and judgement against them. What was that rewarded with? The same group was passing hate and judgement on the brony community behind our backs.

The other run ins I've had have been with the types that want some kind of human genocide, or that furries are genetically superior because of their attachment to animals.

So, like I said, I 'used' to stand up for them. Unfortunately over time they've proven to me they aren't worth defending.

Sorry for all of you who are furries. Call it bad luck or whatever, but I've grown to generally despise most of them.

are you implying that the majority of us who have said that we're furries are saying it because we watch a show that involves anthropomorphic animals? I have no doubt that there ARE people who say it, but not us. Haven't seen anything about a tv show other than mlp on this thread.

Trying to defend a group of people on the internet is worthless anyways. It's comparable to trying to stop a raging river from flowing.

What I inferred from what you said is that you despise furries because most of us only claim to be furries because of a TV show we watch that has anthro animals, and we can't really be defended? I guess?

Not one of them but i just think its kinda silly to generalize a whole group of people as a whole (same with if people did the same with bronies). People are way too complex to do one-size fits all generalizations. Not to say that some aren't weird or jerks, so are people in general. They are definitely at the end of the spectrum for weird / unusual interests, I'll give them that. It is understandable to have bad thoughts about "them" when you've had bad run-in's with "them".
