Great job on Balloon Party, guys. I think we're ready to knock our heads together and krank our next efforts to 11, yeah? This go around, I will be having a more "official" team that will be doing things behind-the-scenes with more structure and routineness, so while it's all on our own free time and voluntary, there will be a more solid foundation behind the next push to bring people to bronycon and direct excess funds to charitable causes.

As for Bronyquest, I'm going to try to make the aid sign-up form more accessible, but I will be distributing on request. You of course have to be a MLR member of the forum who has made music in some fashion (including DJing). TripDiam and Datsmore will be the co-hosts of the project while Aussie steps down to a more supportive role. Several other members of the forum are also on the team but right now I'm both a little too lazy to write it down and some of them are judges and I want to protect them <3333

But yeah, the aim is similar, make a clever, subtle pony track that fits an energetic/speedy theme or something with radical swagger. It can be anything, it just has to fit the mentality. This is in no way meant to sound rude or demeaning, but will we be seeing an album that is not predominately electronic (e.g. dubstep, DnB, Hands Up)? For Balloon Party it was heavily implied that a wide variety of genres were being sought after; this was not apparent in the final product. The music community here is ever growing and utilizes a lot more than just heavy amounts of Massive. While last time I advocated acceptance of all entries, i'd at least like to see this album be more lenient towards songs that do not boast distorted bass and hard leads. I'll no doubt try and contribute, but if this album is run in the same fashion as the last, I expect whatever classical piece I come up with to be rejected, as did many others. Though Balloon Party was an awesome album, I felt it was not a true representation of the music community as a whole, but rather the most popular musicians and those who make music in the same genres and styles as them.

And yeah, I will consider this BUT the criteria sounds like anything I'd write would be rejected on the pretense that it's not a genre that was listed, or a genre associated with 'fast and stylish'.

I'd prefer to know now about that really, instead of writing a big epic orchestral track, only to find orchestral doesn't have enough 'radical swagger' for your tastes.

As CircuitFry has stated, there is an emphasis on speed and style, but if you come out with something top quality, it stands a good chance of being accepted. Same goes for jazz, reggae, trance, Trap, minimal, pop, prog, if you can make it happen, and it meets the quality standard for the album, you make it clever and unique and interesting, then it will stand a good chance. I don't know how to make this any clearer.

There is no restriction on genre. None.

Why is there so much bass music being made, and why was Balloon Party full of it? Because its popular, simple as that. Nothing to do with the album.
